Ha, nice! The Pope Mobile will roll through opponents in 2005 with ease...that is for sure! I doubt he'll win the Heisman but hey, stranger things have happened in the world. With the media attention surrounding Omar, all of our players should get noticed more!

PJ needs 725 yards to break Dave Preston's career rushing mark.

PJ is our best all around player.

I find it amazing that we have arguably the best quarterback in all of college football and we can still consider our tailback to be our best all-around player.

And, from what I saw of Vance Johnson in the spring game, he could be up there, too.

It's not very bold to me. How many college running backs can catch 50 passes and run for 1000 yards. If we were not a pass first team PJ Pope would have already broken Preston's career yardage mark. He will probably end up as our all time TD scorer too.

What does anyone think about Pope's NFL potential? I think he could be a 4th-5th round pick at the highest and could be a solid Olandis Gary type running back who catches alot of passes and carries 5-10 times a game to relieve a starter.

We've discussed this quite a bit here ...

1) He'll have to have another monster year, stat-wise

2) His pre-draft "measureables" will have to be very strong.

Otherwise, he's UDFA ... maybe.

I've mentioned this once previously and at the risk of sounding like an echo, here goes. PJ has both the rushing and receiving numbers comparable to what Doug Chapman had at Marshall, if not better. Doug Chapman was the #88 pick (3rd round) in the 2000 draft. A running back with Pope's skills in the backfield and running routes will be drafted fairly high as Chapman was. It's likely no stretch to place him anywhere from late 2nd to 5th round. A lot of his draft position will depend on his NFL scouting combine speed results, regardless of the numbers he puts up this season.

It seems to be the case for the Falcon to the left

If he runs a 40 in the 4.4 4.5 range he will likely get drafted. Too much long term production too be ignored That same production makes him without a doubt a UDFA.
