Check out this photo from the AP wire, is that the Falcon head logo on the ball?? Does the visiting team supply the game balls, or does the OK program just have the funds to get special balls made up for each opponent?

I think each team gets to play with their own balls. So when we are on offense, the refs go to our sideline for the balls. When the opponent is on offense, they go to their sideline for the ball. Seems kind of strange, don't you think?

You would be correct Warthog, and for once I know that for a fact. Last year before halftime I was down waiting to march on the field and realized those guys that carry balls on the sidelines were holding Nike balls. It caught my eye because I knew we used the ball showed in the AP pic above. When I asked him what was up, he said each team brings their own balls because it's what the offense is used to using. They are all NCAA approved so it is alright that they do that. We use a Wilson ball and most schools in the South actually use more Nike and other brands. The only people who really have to adapt are defenses. There shape of the Nike ball is actually a little more pointed on the ends if you as me but the weight and everything is the same. I have played with both our Wilson ball with the Falcon logo (stolen by a friend) and a Nike one (you can buy in stores) and I didn't find much difference at all. The feel of the leather is actually different but both grip great.

There's a joke to be made, but I won't go there...

Yeah, I realized that after I posted but hey, I had to leave some humor in the post

This is the photo I was referring to in an earlier post.
Look at O4. Look at the ball.
He's so big it looks like a toy ball.

Unrelated to post...but my girlfriend commented that she could "no longer see the Falcon logo" on the helmets. I must say that I'm also a fan of the old decal.
In fact, watching while watching the game yesterday, I initially thought the decals weren't even on the helmet and that we were pulling Cleveland or Syracuse.

I agree 100%. Hopefully the "powers that be" will realize that the new helmets just don't look good on TV and will revert to our former, superior, design.

I agree, the logo on the helmet is very hard to see. I would be in favor of switching the brown falcon head outline with white. The white would stand out better on the orange than this brown does. Before anyone goes off about white not being a "school color," I'm simply talking about a color that would easily be seen on orange and it's used all over our uniforms in one way or another. From far away, the brown is pretty much washed out. It's just like on Oklahoma's helmets, the white is easy to see the OU on the redish helmet. If they were to make OU in black, it would be hard to see.

I like it too -- but I get what people are saying about seeing it on TV.
I'm not sure the old one really was easier to see. I just think we were just used to it.

I agree I think the new helmets are an improvment, the white in the middle of the old logo always used to annoy me. However, I would have no problem making the logo white or another color to make it stand out more. And now that they have my blessing I'm sure the powers that be at BG will run out and do just that.

Motown: Your eyes are shot.
Schadenfreude: Yeah. I was tossing the ball to our flag football team yesterday (we use the youth-sized footballs, of course) and it hit me just how big Omar must be. If he were holding one of these youth footballs, it would probably look like a burrito.

I like the whole new look. I can't wait to see them in all orange.
Someone mentioned that those footballs were sold in stores. Do they have the Falcon Logo on them? I would love to have one with the Falcon logo on it.
Also, it appears that the Team was wearing a newly designed helmet. Forget about the colors and logo for a second, does anyone have details on what type of new helmet that is? I thought they looked cool.
