Boise Player involved in fatal accident

Post by Jacobs4Heisman »

Cam Hall was apparently racing (speculation) with a drunk driver in excess of 100 mph when the drunk driver's truck t-boned a young family's subaru, killing all 3. The victims were a 23 year old couple and ther infant. Prayers go out to everyone involved.

I guess it's a bad year to be on our schedule.

Family of three killed in Highway 55 crash; BSU player allegedly involved

06:56 PM MDT on Sunday, May 8, 2005

EAGLE – A mother, father and infant died in a high-speed crash Saturday evening along Highway 55, and a Boise State football player may be involved.

Ada County Sheriff’s deputies told NewsChannel 7 that two vehicles were racing when a pick-up truck crashed into a Subaru Outback carrying a family of three at the intersection of Highway 55 and Beacon Light Road.

Authorities have not released the names of the 23-year-old father, his 23-year-old wife and their 5-week-old baby, but they are believed to be from Ada County.

Investigators say the Subaru was turning north from Beacon Light onto Highway 55 when it was struck broadside by the southbound truck at around 7:30 p.m. Both vehicles traveled about 100 yards after the impact.

Everyone in both vehicles were wearing seat belts, but Ada County Sheriff Gary Raney said the impact of the crash was so forceful the father was ejected from the vehicle and found dead a few hundred feet from where the accident occurred. His wife and child also did not survive.

The driver of the pickup, Mark Lazinka of Boise, and his passenger were taken to St. Al’s Hospital where they were treated for what appeared to be minor injuries.

Police believe Cam Hall of Kennewick Wash., starting safety for Boise State, was in the car the truck was racing. He allegedly fled the scene and called the sheriff's office.

Hall is expected to be one of the senior leaders on this year's Bronco team. He has been a major part of the team's defense since 2002 and is known for big plays.

The suspects in the accident could face DUI charges, deputies said.

That is truely a horrible story. My thoughts are with those people's family and IMO the people involved should face much more serious charges than a DUI.

vehicular homicide 25 to life would be my choice. Rumblings are that Hall will be charged with reckless driving at the very least. Who knows until all of this is fact and not speculation.

Yeah from what I have read in other places is that the guy who hit them faces 3 charges of vehicular manslaughter while the BSU player faces at least reckless driving. I think they are both equally responsible, regardless of who actually hit them.

wow. I did not think it would go that far but it looks like they want to throw the book at the kid. It's a scary idea that one silly little mistake could snowball into a terrible tragedy and cost three people their lives and a young man his future. Not too much else to say about that...

The thing that bothers me the most is that he initially left the scene of the accident. It's the middle of the night and no one is around. Him fleeing may be the difference between someone in that car surviving or dying if emergency crews are not contacted asap. Probably not the case the here but you never know.

It's a very sad story.

Such a tragic loss, it's yet another reason drinking and driving is a horrible thing...it not only hurts you, it hurts those involved.

Something so horibble and somethingthat could have been avoided. That is a fact that doesn't make it any easier for the family members left behind.

The young man from the BSU team should face charges of some kind and will have to deal with his involvement in the deaths of a family all of his life. I hope he does something with his life, because that young baby will not have a life.

I have been down the road of drinking and driving and luckily no one ever got hurt. My wreck and my conviction was a real wake up call, one that I will not ignore. I hate that it took me a DUI to wake up. I always speak out and try to help others make the right decisions and avoid the mistakes I and others have made. (Yelling at people and calling them drunks doesn't help by the way.) I just wish we could get through to more people so stories like this don't happen.
