As many of you have heard there are unofficial rumors that Temple will enter the MAC. I'm against this idea because soon many others may follow suit and join the MAC and crowd up the divisions. 6 or 7 teams to a division please-I don't want 10 to the east and 10 to the west.

I'm not quite sure if you know this, but Marshall and Central Florida left. The goal is to replace those two teams for football for sure. That said, other sports like men's soccer also need to add schools so they can continue to keep an NCAA tourny bid. Just because there are 14 schools in the mac doesn't mean all 14 field a team in all sports. Therefore we need more schools to keep the conference going. Also You need 12 for a conference championship in football. Right now we are at 13. Keeping 14 or 15 makes sure we don't fall below that line if someone else decides to leave.
Schools can not just join a conference because they want to. The conference must vote and approve any school that wants to join. Therefore, I don't think you really have anything to fear

I didn't know that Central Florida was leaving, but I was aware of Marshall. I guess I'm looking at it from a football stand point. Thanks for the info PGY!

Actually, I'd say they
barely played football.

I thought Central Florida played football in the Midwest Conference.

Not sure having 14 teams really helps at all. If we were able to field a better 10 team Mac and say call us the Mac10 or something we'd be better off. Remember when teams go to the bowls the're only splitting it with all the other fellow conference teams so the more teams you got the less cash is doled out I'm guessing. Get my drift? :-\

So we can't just join the PAC ten?

Maybe if we ask nicely.
