Looks like it didn't take Tressel long to want to schedule a 1AA:

I like Brandon's quote: "anywhere, anytime"!

Schad,
What irritates me the most is that Tressel was one of the speakers at the BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY football program in Salem.....Why? Don't the mighty Bucks have enough publicity yet?

Who replaced Tressel at YSU when he left?

Yep.
Tressell probably figured he was doing us a favor. Heck, maybe BGSU paid him.
And look what happened. All Brandon and Bowling Green football got was a me-too quote at our own event.
I recognize that we need a big name to lure media to our events -- but this Tressell thing really blew up in our faces.
Isn't there someone out there who would be willing to travel and help Brandon get some pub for our program while driving the story a bit more to Falcon football?
Would Phil Villapiano do it? Martin Bayless? Josh Harris?
I'm sure the athletic department has put a lot of thought into this.
But not only did our athletic department's hard work score Ohio State a bunch of pub in the Mahoning Valley -- which they get plenty of on their own, thank you very much -- the whole story is about them getting rather gutless and deciding to play a I-AA program not one week after the NCAA allowed them to get away with it.
And there was no one to call 'em on it, because it was the Valley and they love their Penguins, bless their hearts.
Man, I'm irritated.

If Ohio State wants to "help out fellow Ohio schools" as the author puts it, how about playing an Ohio MAC team EVERY year. If they really think they could beat us, UT, and Miami year in year out we'd probably play them alot more. I'm sure no Ohio MAC school would object to filling OSU's 12th game every year in place of Youngstown State.

Good point. How about a handshake agreement by the Buckeyes to play a D-I Ohio team every year. That's a great idea NY-BG-FAN. A nice rotation of Toledo, Ohio, BG, Miami, Kent, Akron and Cincy. (Yes, I'd throw the Bearcats in there).

They pretty much have for the past 5-10 years or so played at least 1 Ohio D1A school each year.

Uhhhh....I'm not 100% certain, but I already throught they agreed a while back to play all the D1-A schools in Ohio in rotation?

Yes, I agree. I think somebody complained about the money tOSU was paying to out-of-state opponents to come to Columbus. Then they got the bright idea to play all the Ohio Div I teams in rotation to keep the funds in Ohio.

How about we carry that over to hoops as well? BG plays OSU in every other sport, but not men's hoops.
OSU has been playing a 1-A Ohio school in football almost every year since 1997.

So will that continue, even with the Penguins in the mix, or will they drop one of the D-IA schools to fit in YSU?

"Our first choice would be Youngstown State, because it's good for football and it's good for the state.''
No it would be your first choice because you have the least chance of losing that game. Maybe even no chance. There was a time in the late 90's when YSU was as good as most of the MAC but those days are over. I watched YSU play a couple times last season and they are real bad. They have no business playing OSU.
