How tough is Boise's schedule!

Post by NY-BG-FAN »

I don't remember anyone talking much about this. They open up at Georgia, then play at Oregon State before they play us. After those two trips they will definitely be jacked up to play us in their home opener, but will they have anything left? Does their schedule work in our favor in that they will be beaten up once we play them, or will we seem easy to them by the time Sept. 21st rolls around? After us they play at Hawaii, thats as tough a four games as anyone will play to open the season. They could very realistically be 0-3 to start the year. I like them to lose to Georgia, and I think they will win a close one at Oregon State. I see our game with them still as a tossup, with a slight edge to Boise being at home and it being a long trip mid-week for BG.

If memory serves, Our game is on a Wednesday so they would have 10 days of rest. Unfortunately they could play the Steelers and still be rested for us with 10 days off. I think Boise will have no trouble getting up for us unless they beat Georgia and roll OSU and we stumble against Wisky. If we're undefeated we'll either be ranked higher than them (if they lose to georgia or OSU) or we'll both be top 15. In either case they'll be ready for us. Toughest game of the year bar none. Not the most important, but the toughest for sure.

That is correct we play Boise on wednesday 9/21.

I did this a few weeks ago for Wisconsin so I figure I could do it for BSU too.
Boise's success at home:
2004
W 65-7 Idaho
W 53-34 Oregon St.
W 28-27 BYU
W 38-20 SMU
W 33-16 Fresno St.
W 69-3 Hawaii
W 55-14 La Tech
2003
W 62-0 Idaho St.
W 33-17 Whyoming
W 27-20 Tulsa
W 77-14 San Jose St.
W 51-21 UTEP
W 56-3 Nevada
2002
W 38-21 Idaho
W 63-38 Utah St.
W 58-31 Hawaii
W 67-21 Fresno St.
W 49-7 Rice
W 36-10 La Tech
2001
L 41-20 Wash St
W 42-17 UTEP
W 41-10 Tulsa
W 49-7 Nevada
W 56-6 San Jose st
W 26-10 CMU
Very impressive at home but what I find even more impressive is their overall record. Since the beginning of the 2002 season this team has only lost three games (36-3). This team did play some close games last season and not every game at home or on the road was a blowout. Actually our home record is about dead even with theirs since 2001. I'm not sure if I attribute their great home record to the smurf being a tough place to play or they were just way better than all these teams anyway. They have done just as much damage on the road as they have done at home. What I mean is I think they would have won all these games no matter where they played. I think we will be the toughest home game they have played in the last four years. Beatingf them at home would be a great accomplishment but I think we have the guns to do it.

Really good read on my Broncos' homefield dominance.

Seeing how you handled Memphis, some of us Bronco fans see BGSU as potentially our toughest match-up for 2005. We'll be well prepared, and if BSU is coming into the game 2-0, our stadium will be rocking like it's never done before.

I know it's long road trip for you, but those of you who do make it will be well treated by the Bronco faithful. We'll have to make sure, though, to have plenty of replacement bulbs for the scoreboard.

Boise State? How can you not respect this program? Just like the top MAC teams, the top WAC teams don't get nearly the respect but they have THROTTLED teams on a regular basis. I can't wait to play them these next couple years. I think it's a GREAT series...BG BETTER be ready when they step on that field. Hey, the Broncos have ORANGE in their color scheme so they can't be all that bad! They have a hell of a team and program.

Fresno State is another WAC team that gets a ton of respect from me...the Fresno State/Toledo game should be a dandy as well.

Wish I could be there but no can do. Good luck Boise State in every game this year. Us "mid majors" gotta stick together.

I have heard good things about Boise - but I will not be able to make the mid-week trip. BSU is our toughest game next year...

BSU

Our home record since 1999 is 39-1. The lone loss was against Washington State when they were at the top of the Pac 10. Truthfully, we looked like Junior High playing against a top college team in that one. Today we are much better.
We are tied with USC for the best D1A over all record over the last three seasons. Won't mean much come september except you have to come to our house. And you will be amazed at the racket 30,000 fans can make here.

This is going to be a great game!! Believe it or not we actually do well in these types of non-conf hostile situations on the road. I hope we travel well for this game. Great exposure for the program. What kind of Alumni support do we have out West???

BSU 's Record

Post by Alanweezie »

Just read that Boise State's 39-1 home record since 1999 was by an average of 29 points per game. 29 points was the average margin of victory!!

in fairness to them, the majority of those games were against WAC opponents, only 1 of which has been consistently good the past 5 years, that being Fresno State. Not to take anything away from that streak. Hey we play in a stronger conference and have won our last 18 home games! Not too shabby.
