Who is our toughest opponent in 2005?

Post by Falcon30 »

Given our BCS record the past few years, this seems like a no brainer to me...

Boise State is loaded and although they are young, they will be the toughest team we play all year.

Wisconsin, not a knock on how good Boise could be, but Wisky is still in the Big10 , their big at most positions and they have a very good fan base that will fill their 70,000 seat or more stadium. Boise St. though would be a very close second in my opinion followed by Miami who we haven't beaten since the stone age.

USC in the Bowl game...if we don't lose a game, it will happen.

I think Miami(OH), if only for the added pressure that's likely to come along with that. Looking at our OOC history, even when we lose the "big" ones, we come back with a clean slate. The spRockets proved that to be true big time last year. So, while winning in Boise or Madison might be harder, the pressure of what's on the line at Miami(OH), that they'll be a solid team and we haven't beaten them in a long while makes that game tougher.

Though I guess you did say "toughest OPPONENT". I might have to lean toward Boise St. on that one.

He said "in 2005". The Rose Bowl is in 2006.

Too late, I already voted :D In 2005 then, I'd have to go with Boise St.

I would have to say Boise. Besides the fact that they are a really good team it would also be the third straight road game. Wisconson will be a tough game but I have a lot of faith in this team pulling the upset in that one.

I won't consider beating Wisconsin an upset. By the way these threads got BSU fans attention.

not sure if you have to be a member there to read.

"It's interesting that when comparing road games to Boise and Miami that they choose Boise as the tougher game. "

I wonder if this guy thinks that is Miami (fla)

This how I would rank it:
1. Miami
2. Boise
3.Wisconsin
4. Toledo
5. Kent St
6. Ohio
7. Akron
8. Ball St.
9. Buffalo
10. WMU
11. Temple (the only good thing about beating them in the past was it counted as a BCS victory; don't even get that anymore)

I could easily switch the first two but as TG said this game is going bring a lot of pressure with it. I think 1999 was the last time we beat Miami

Friends don't let friends leave off the (OH). :D

Who is that schmuck that said Boise should beat us "like a rented mule"? I'd like to see what kind of spread he considers a "rented mule", exactly.

Let's be realistic: Orange Bowl gets last pick.

(To think I'm saying "realistic" and "Orange Bowl" in the same sentence -- but these are giddy times.)

Boise is the toughest, but the Miami game is much more important than all those other games. If we beat Miami and lose all those other games, we're still playing for the MAC title and a bowl. Conversely, we could lose to Miami, beat the rest, and still not playing past November if the MAC only gets 2 bowl teams this year.

I'm just saying in my own opinion it will not be an upset. We are the better team. ...There are no official rankings yet.
