Josh Harris and the Ravens

I was on the Ravens message board and they think he will make the team. However, they said that there is a chance that they cut him so that they can put him on their practice squad. From what they're saying the Ravens really like Harris and are afraid to actually put him on practice squad because another team might claim him. So who knows.

In making their last major cutdown, the Ravens opted for youth over experience when they unexpectedly released veteran special teams standout Harold Morrow, according to moves reported to the NFL last night.
The decision opened an extra spot on the team's 53-man roster, enabling the Ravens to keep three young players - receiver Clarence Moore, defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin and quarterback Josh Harris - who all had been on the bubble.
Morrow, 31, was known for his bruising style on coverage teams, recording 140 career special teams tackles. He spent one season with the Ravens after signing as a free agent in 2003.

Others released were linebacker Brandon Barnes, receiver Todd Devoe, cornerback Lance Frazier, defensive lineman Jesse Mitchell, offensive tackle Tony Pashos, tight end Brett Pierce, guard Brian Rimpf and center Lenny Vandermade.

The team will announce its eight-player practice squad during the next couple of days.

I finally got around to watching my TIVO'd Lions/Ravens exhibition game from a few weeks a go. Josh got in late and killed the clock. ESPN's Chris Spielman does the color for Lion's preseason games. He really hyped Josh as a player with a future. Spielman thinks that given time to develop, Josh will be a very good pro QB.

I think Spielman has as much a future in coaching as he wants. He seems to really know the game and he communicates his ideas well.

Spielman also hyped Avon Cobourne and Steven Trejo, and they both got cut by the Lions! I think he just got an arena coaching gig for a team in Columbus.

I love Chris Spielman. One of the things he says is that he isn't interested in coaching full-time because he made some bad decisions in his life and didn't spend time with his family, and when his wife was sick, he realized this and has made future choices accordingly. The arena gig is low intensity enough to meet those goals.

They're going to regret cutting Cobourne. Trejo's been a stud on special teams, but Cobourne was getting the job done on special teams and as a RB.

I love Spielman, but I'd rather not see him coaching. I want him doing broadcasting full time and doing it on higher profile games. He is simply one of the top 5 college color guys out there. I love it when he's doing the games I want to watch. I agree, he knows the game as well as anyone and does very well in the booth.
