Bleachers Coming Down
Well, I was just over at The Doyt with a few of my friends, and found that the university had about a half dozen workers on the north endzone bleachers to tear them down. They had the about 20 feet of the seats taken out, with just the metal frame remaining. No clue on anything else regarding the SEBO, but these are coming down for sure.
As a side note, Timchenko (we think) was there working on his kickoffs as well.

Well it looks like the marching band will have new seats in the stadium yet again. Thats about 4 years in a row now. It will be nice when they take their permanent place in the North Endzone. I think the year the SEBO opens the tubas should have one bell cover that is an orange and brown bulls eye. Move it all around the band for extra point kicks.

They're taking the seats out to start construction next month (I think?) of the Sebo Athletic Center. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think it will look better than paint chipped wooden bleachers when its done.BGSUFootballFan wrote:awwwh they are removing seats? dangit i hate this

I do hate the fact that the stadium will go down to it's original capacity, 25,500 I think, but it will be worth it in the end. I would rather have a full 25,500 stadium than only 25,500 fans in a 30,000 facility. I may have to look into the internet deal as well. I may be living in Illinois in the near future.

In regards to that last comment, I have to admit that I agree. While Soldier Field in Chicago was getting rebuilt a few years back, the Chicago Fire of MLS, took up residence in the Football stadium of North Central College in Naperville, IL. In addition to the team colored seats (red), I thought that the atmosphere was MUCH better when they had 15,000 packed into a stadium that couldn't really hold that much, as opposed to the 60,000 seat Soldier Field. To each his own, but I liked being right on top of the field in a jam-packed stadium. Jeff
Maggot you beat me to it. I was golfing over at Forrest Creason today and could the hammering and de-contruction work going on. Didn't realize what it was until we got over to # 8 and saw the missing seats. I am starting to get excited about this little project.

1) Matt and Matt - do I have to seperate you two?
2) Really glad we spent the money on those vinyl bleacher caps for the FMB. We could have saved the money and settled for another season in our most recent "old spot".
But I will say that it will be nice to have us in one spot, for our specific designation, though I will only ever sit there for alumni band. I graduate in May. WOHOO!!!
Can anyone post some pics so us out-of-towners can see the progress? Maybe make a Sebo Progress thread where we can get the updates. These days I rarely visit bgsufalcons.com.

The capacity from 1966-82 was 23,272.It's the Journey... wrote:I do hate the fact that the stadium will go down to it's original capacity, 25,500 I think,
Capacity was 30,599 from 1982-2002
Capacity was 28,599 for 2003 and 2004.

It would seem the bleachers that were just ripped down seated 5,327.
On the other hand, I suppose it's possible the athletic department renumbered the original seating back in 1982.

wouldnt it be 26,599? since it went from 30,599 to 28,599? As for me i would rather have a really big stadium and then try our hardest to fill it as best as possible, instead of a rinky dink stadium that is always over-stuffed
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Thanks for the information. I am at work and didn't have time to look it up. And I have to say that I would rather be stuffed with my fellow Falcon fans and be making a lot of noise than only have a half full stadium where you had no sound at all

Interesting. I was under the impression that the SEBO construction during summer/fall/football season would not interfere with the bleachers. Seems plans may have changed, hopefully this is for the better!
Not sure how looking into parking lot/forrest creason will look like on tv or even in person.
