anyone going to make it to Boise?

Post by 1boisebro »

i know it's early for this post, but i'm assuming there will be a few folks making the trip, even though the game's on the worst possible day for visiting fans.

i don't know if anyone's been to Boise -- i know had never been here until i moved here -- but this picture gives you an idea of how close the stadium is to downtown Boise:

Image

the picture is a couple years old, but you get the idea. the stadium is right across the river from one of our larger downtown parks where plenty of fans tailgate prior to the game. there are plenty of hotels in and around downtown that are within walking distance to the campus.

and downtown is a great and vibrant place -- plenty of restaurants, bars, night clubs, dance clubs, etc.

but the #1 priority if you make the trip: stop by our BroncoCountry tailgate for some free food and drinks! we've always welcomed visiting fans, and i'm sure we'll be tailgating all day long since it's our first home game of the year (last year there were plenty of people tailgating at 7:30am for a 6:30pm kickoff). :D

frankly, i envy any of you who can make both the Boise and Madison trips next season... those happen to be two of my favorite cities! in fact, they're almost exactly the same size.

i'll leave ya with some idaho scenery from the mountains around and near Boise, just to get ya in the mood... :P

hope to see you in Idaho! i can guarantee that plenty of BSU fans will be trying to make the trip in 2006...

Well you guys have us beat in scenery by a score of about 77-0. I am a huge mountain and skiing person and Idaho is one of the few western states I have never been to. I wish I could make this trip but there is no way it will happen for numerous reasons, mostly monetary.
Not sure how many we will have out there, it is quite a haul and on a weeknight to boot.

Thanks for the pictures!

I would love to, but I'm having to put all my eggs into the Madison basket.

I entertained the thought, but I don't believe I can swing the trip.

My tiny voice inside my head is telling me that it's still early to give a definitive no, however. :D

I had worked the wife up to about a 50% chance of going until they moverd it to midweek. Hopefully, the series will be successful enough that we play a couple more.

Yeah, it looks like all the hills BG was supposed to have ended up in Boise. Talk about exact topographical opposites. Is the stadium near the campus? And is that Taco Bell arena next to it? Just wondering. There is about a 10% chance I will make the trip but I am still curious.

yes, that's taco bell arena just west of the stadium (the artist formerly known as the Boise State Pavilion).

the stadium is on the eastern edge of campus. here's a picture looking east...

basically, all the buildings in the foreground are part of the Boise State campus.

try to make it if you can. we'll treat you well! :D

As those last three photos show, the copyright is not mine. :)

All right well maybe the score is not 77-0. Those are good pictures too.

Okay it's 77-10. BG looks much prettier in pictures than it does in person, that is just my opinion though. It still isn't in the same stratosphere as the scenery in Idaho :)

nothing wrong with flat! unless you're a woman.

thanks for the pics -- reminds me of wisconsin!

i love the architecture in town, especially the clock tower.

that's a nice shot of your stadium, too. what's the current capacity? do you always sell out? are you in the process of expansion, or planning any expansion soon?

too many questions? :-\

Not sure on the exact capacity of our stadium now but I think it is somewhere around 25,00-26,00. We rarely ever sellout games( just ask anyone on this website) :) . We are actually in the process of decreasing our capcity. We are going to start building a Student-Athlete Center in the North side of our stadium this summer. Here is a link. http://bgsufalcons.collegesports.com/ge ... 05aaa.html

That's the Wood County Courthouse. It's a fantastic building.

This shot, of the inside, doesn't do justice:

That's a mural of Bowling Green's oil boom back around the turn of the century.

Wow, those are beautiful pictures of Idaho. Think we could bring a few hills back to BG after we play you guys? Not that the hill we have isn't lovely, of course. Driving just isn't all that fun when the most exciting part of a cruise around BG is going over the little hill at the railroad crossings.
