Here are a few links. The first is to the Wisconsin website that is brief and talks about his suspension. The second is from SI.com and includes some photos from the fight.

If you don't feel like reading, he will be suspended for two practices....

I think that goes to show just how scared Barry Alvarez really is about BG. If the Big 10 thinks they are that much better than any MAC team, then a team shouldn't need their starting TB. Especially when said team is supposed to be loaded with RB and OL talent every year.

A football player capable of running over a 300 pound linebacker beats the crap out of two students, one of which is a female, and gets rewarded...God I hate BCS conferences.

Do you really think it only happens in BCS conferences?????

No, but tell me how many criminal offenses Ohio State has compared to Ohio U.

Who knows. All I know is I roomed with football players and they got away with a lot of stuff. So I really don't think you can compare any school to another.

A two practice suspension is an absolute joke.
And to it's a journey,
Well I agree with you that these guys get away with more than they should, however, i know we would hold a player more accountable then this.
Example Matt Leininger
Disorderly conduct-suspended two games
2nd offense, DUI- kicked off team
None of that was even close conisidering there is even pictures of this moron with blood on his shirt. Resisted arrest too. Suspension of 2 practices=nothing.

That's fine. As long as we score more points, it doesn't much matter.
But the question is, if he's not going to start, why not make an example out of the kid? I was always told not to hit girls, guess those in Wisky were never taught that.

You have to see the pictures to understand how a two-practice suspension is awfully darned light for that Wisconsin kid. He beat the crap out of that other student. It was really, really ugly.

It's not so much the beating the pulp outta that other guy that gets me as much as the hitting/shoving the chick. Guys get testosterone rages at each other and s**t happens, but putting your hands violently on a chick just ain't right.
Way to go UW

This guy is supposed to be representing the school as a university football player, and he gets his picture posted on websites and in newspapers with blood on his shirt and in handcuffs because he beat the living pulp out of another man, and did things to a woman that we all know are wrong. And all he gets is a slap on the wrist by the disciplinary committee. The article does say that Coach Alvarez has yet to decide on more punishment, but I really do hope that he suspends him for at minimum 2 games. Not that this doesn't and hasn't happened at BG, but it never made the national media. And as far as Calhoun playing in the "rugged" Big 12, he played in the north division. His last year there they played six games at home, Oklahoma and Nebraska being two of those. They played Florida State and Kansas State on the road. But I would say that playing that playing Kansas, Baylor, a horrible Tech defense, Missouri, and Iowa State is not playing that "rugged" of a schedule. And the only reason he got a lot of touches was because Purify went down that season. And does it really matter, because if UW doesn't show a whole lot of a pass offense, they are going to be in trouble anyways, because if we can get up early, they aren't going to be able to get back in the game running the ball. If Stanley isn't punished more than being held out of two practices, I will lose a lot of respect for Alvarez and the university for not making a statement that a representative of the university cannot act in that brutal a manner.

There's a lot of "ifs" there, isn't there? I believe Booker will probably face further disciplinary action by Alvarez down the line. The 2-practice suspension was ruled by the appeals committee, and that does not make it final by any means. We'll just have to wait and see.

IF this is all correct, it seems very light punishment from what I saw (Pictures and stories in newspapers). Those pix were pretty bad. TWO practices?
There should be criminal charges for assault, correct? And shoving and hitting a woman? That is the lowest.
One man does not make a team. It won't matter for Wisky if he plays or not. BG is gonna win this game because BG is the better team.
Kdog,
Your example of Matt L was good. I HATE the fact he won't play in 2005...he has a lot of talent and plays hard. From what I know, he will be back in 2006 since he wasn't RS his Frosh year. I really hope so....Matt is a great kid who made mistakes...the same mistakes I made at that age.

It doesn't really matter if he receives further disciplinary action from Alvarez or not. In terms of what's best for Wisconsin football, they would be better off playing Calhoun and Jamil Walker, and forgetting about Booker. In fact, I would be willing to wager that Walker could be one of the better backs to have ever played at Wisconsin when it's all said and done.
