Hi all....
Badger fan here from Madison. I'm looking forward to our gridiron matchup! I think it's going to be a tough game for the Badgers. Although I am confident that we will find a way to come out on top, I think every knowledgeable Badger fan is apprehensive about playing BGSU.

To beat your team, on offense we are going to have to pound the ball for 4 yards a pop and have 8+ minute possessions that result in scores. Stocco will have to complete open passes, especially on third down, which he has shown the ability to do, albeit inconsistently. I believe that if we are able to pound the ball all day, and are within a touchdown after three quarters, we will come out on top because we have a way of wearing down defenses.

On defense, we need to slow down Omar and P.J. (nobody can STOP them), and make you kick field goals when you get in the red zone. In addition, we need to take advantage of any takeaway opportunities.

I respect BGSU and know it will be a challanging and good game. My prediction: Badgers by 3. Any questions/comments?

By the way, I'm originally from Madison and am also a student at UW, so if anybody who is visiting for the game has any questions about Madison--shoot!

Welcome to the board. It is always nice to have reasonable individuals come on board.

I think it will be an exciting game and I think you have a reasonable prediction. Nothing personal, but as a BG fan I hope the score goes in BG's favor though.

BG will have their hands full for sure and will be going into a very difficult stadium to play in as a visiting squad. The good news for BG is that many of the key skill players have already been in an environment like that when they played at Oklahoma.

I agree with you that if you can pound the ball, we're toast. However, if get some fast strikes and go up, UW may be in trouble. I don't see that they have the QB to play catch-up - nothing personal, just stating my impression.

I will be making the trip to Madison. I believe wife and I are going to stay in New Glarus (she loves the town and it's our anniversary) and make our way up to Madison for tailgating (at this point it's looking like breakfast fair.)

welcome badger fan(s) -- I think your score prediction may fall in with the betting line. I'm guessing vegas will see this game as about a push but give UW the edge for home field, which is standard. For some reason I'm pretty confident in our chances this year based on a few assumptions:

1. Wisconsin is a power program....but will have a down year. I don't see Wisconsin going more than 7-5 this year. And we have shown the ability to consistently beat mid-tier to weak BCS teams.

2. This is Bowling Green's best team in a loooong time. Our offense will score on everybody. The only question is the right side of our line but I have faith in Studrawa to get em ready. I think our defense will be much improved simply because of Lovett (new DC). That is based solely on his previous experience but as I said before...these are assumptions.

3. Camp Randall will not intimidate us like it did, for example, to Akron. We've been there before. These guys will be ready to play regardless of venue.

4. We will jump out to an early lead. I don't have the exact figure, but we outscored opponents in the first quarter something like 140-37 last year. If we get a quick lead, as ruit said I don't think it will bode well for your Offense.




Now to take off my orange and brown colored glasses. Here is what I am worried about.

1. The Defense must replace some playmakers and vastly improve in the secondary.

2. We must break through the glass ceiling that has been over us the past three years. It seems like every time we really start to get national attention (hype), we stumble in a big way. 2003 at miami, 2002 at NIU and last year @ NIU come readily to mind. We will be a big story early on this year and we must find a way to deal with that and still play solid football. A lot of this falls on the coaching staff but a lot depends on the players' makeups.

3. Wisconsin can Run Run Run. i have nightmare scenarios about OU last year. If wisconsin can say "guess what, we're going to run the ball 20 times in a row and get four yards a play" I think we're done. We have a rhythm offense and we need the d to get the ball back for that purpose.


Overall, without my homerism, I see BG winning by about 10. I know that's arrogant considering the level of team that the badgers field year in and year out. However, I am confident we can go in to CR and win this game based on what I've said above. Good luck to UW and you all are welcome here.

I see BG winning by 14....simply because we can score on just about anyone and the Badgers have big time losses on the D side. Inexperience in the 1st game of the season. I just don't see Wisky stopping our offense.
This will not be Barry's best team by a long shot. I think UW will finish 6th or 7th in the Big 10 this year. Bowling Green is every bit as good as the 3rd-5th place Big 10 teams. I think only Michigan and OSU look better overall on paper.

Wisky will be able to run the ball....no doubt. But will they be able to run it enough? We have some tough, experienced kids up front in Thaler, Cooley, Williams and Parks. Wisky's QB doesn't impress me a whole lot and I'm not too concerned with the Badgers' passing game.

We have been ranked in the Top 25 3 straight years and are 8-2 vs the BCS in the last 4 years...8 of those games on the road.
We want respect nationwide. This is a great opportunity.

I ran into Kenny Burress at Frickers last winter. Coach Beckman was with him and he introduced him to me.
When I started spouting off about the Killer B's, Burress got a smile 10 feet wide. What a great secondary that was. Burress, Brooks, Belinski and Bair.

Not quite sure if I will stay around. If I do disappear, it will be like a Bucks' NBA championship, though.

How is our kicking game coming along? Will Timchenko be dependable?

Our kicking game has seemed to take a back seat to end around pass plays (see cole magner) and deep threat receivers as of late. In a tight game, which the Wisco game has the potential to be, will we have the answer in the form of a good placekicker? Or heck, even a punter???
