Former BG baseball player Tom Stacy was named head coach at traditional NE Ohio powerhouse Massillon Washington High School this morning. He is best known as Charlie Frye's former QB coach at Akron.

Coincidentally, the head coach of their rival, Canton-McKinley, is former BG tight end Brian Cross.
These connections are great to have in a fertile recruiting region.

Thanks for that info, JoeFalcon! The Akron Beacon Journal stated Stacy had received the job but didn't say where he was from, what school he attended or his previous employer.
BG grads running Massillon and Canton McKinley.
My HS alma mater, Dover, is opening the year against Massillon @ Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.
GO TORNADOES!! I hope Stacy does well...just not in his first game. The Freaks will be there!

I didn't know you were from Dover. I graduated from Meadowbrook in 1995. Nice to see another ECOL member on here.

Meadowbrook Colts! Yep, I grew up in Dover and graduated in 1986. Back then, we were still in the Cardinal Conference (the old one, not the new version) and played Ashland, Mansfield Madison, Wooster, Claymont and those HATED NEW PHILADELPHIA QUAKERS!!!!!It's the Journey... wrote:I didn't know you were from Dover. Did you go to school with Rob Fehrman? He was a solid OL for BG from 1996-2000?

Rob and his family are good friends. The Steelers cut a kid with more heart than anything else and no one else would give him a shot. He is moving back to that area to get his masters. It would have been nice to get him on staff here at BG but I guess it isn't to be.

Good luck! Stacy will have his hands full but definitely has the passion and experience to make things happen there. Another interesting thing is that Stacy was teammates with Orel Hershiser while at BG.Thanks for that info, JoeFalcon!
