OK, thanks to a good friend of my dad's... He's a UT guy... but we won't hold that against him... here's some pretty cool footage of a BG/UT game in the old University Field between where the library and education buildings stand now. I don't know the exact date (because I can't find my media guide) but Dave assures me the final score was 22-20... BG WON!! (if anyone wants to dig out their guide and find the season of the 22-20 BG home victory, I'd love to know!)
Check it out... as with most of my clips, it will require
Quicktime to view. It's just about 5MB... so you may want to right-click and save the file to your desktop so you won't ding the bandwidth charges if you want to watch it repeatedly. Thanks!!

VERY COOL!
It was Oct. 19, 1963, Doyt's last home UT game as head coach. BG was 5-0 after that game, beat Kent State the next week, then lost to Miami(OH) at home. Finished 8-2 that year.

That game was in 1963. On the "Doyt Perry, Coach For Life" video, BG trailed that game 20-0 at the half. Perry came in and told the team if they were gonna lose to do it with class. No funny stuff or cheap shots. He motivated that team by challenging their pride as players cuz UT wasn't very good that year and BG went into this game 4-0.
BG rallied to win it 22-20.
That footage is classic stuff!

I always knew that the original field had been there(former tour guide) but I had never seen any pictures of it!

What are those buildings?
I'm having a really hard time figuring it out.
I'm thinking the building in the last photo is Eppler, but I'm not really sure. And I can't make heads or tails out of the steel-and-glass building in the second photo.

Looks like we watered down the field to win that game.

Picture 2 is Memorial Hall. Pictures 3 & 4 are Eppler.
I have a pic of the old football field somewhere in my office.

I was at that game in 1963 as a freshman. I believe that Jim Goings ran the kick off back and the headlines of the Toledo Blade were "Goings, Going, Gone"! Lived in Rogers and it was great to just walk a few minutes from the dorm to the stadium.

Okay, it makes sense now.
I agree that the answer has to be the clock tower.
