Remember when you could watch games all day on New Years, on multiple channels?
There is one game on January first this year.

Most likely a combination of the Rose Bowl being the NC game, and new year's day falling on a Sunday, but what a freaking joke. Also, with my wonderful Thurs/Fri "weekend" and very few, if any, vacation days left by then, I need a Dec. 29 or 30th bowl game to happen. (Though if we play Jan 4, I don't have to worry about waking up in the morning, and can use a 2006 vacation day.

New Year's is on a Sunday. College football is not played on Sundays...it conflicts with the NFL. Love it or hate it, I'm thrilled that they're not playing the college games on Sunday. With New Year's being on a Sunday, most people will get their holiday on Jan. 2, and thus will be able to watch games all day on the 2nd.

This is actually really bad. Many folks have to be back at work on Monday.

Okay they are on Monday. Still there are only 5 games that day. January 1st use to be an all day football affair going on several channels at once. How dare any of these stations compete with one another anymore.

Because they're all owned by the same company...
