BGSU Football Camp

BG is holding the football camp this week. I was out there most of the day with my kids and I'd have to say there is a lot of talent running around. Not as much size as I saw last year, but I'm sure most of those guys came for the senior day they had a little while back. I haven't been able to see a lot of the 7 on 7 for the varsity teams as I've been coaching a B-team, but I have watched other things.
As far as I could see and from what I heard, BG has worked out atleast two kids so far this week. One was the DE from St. Henry, Toby Boeckman (6'6" 200?), and the other was a DE from Woodmore, Carl Smith (6'1" 220?).
Perrysburg's RB is there and he looks real good. His name is Ronnie Tisdale. He's a little short and looks like he may lack a bit of upper body strength, but dang is he fast. He has some huge legs and does a real good job with his assignments.

I thought Tisdale was just a character in Jerry McGuire...

There are a lot of campers from a lot of different schools represented at the camp (I think something like 400 campers). On top of the many camp teams formed by the coaches, there were also schools that brought enough campers to have a 7 on 7 team themselves. Here is a list of those schools.
Northville, MI
Merrillville, IN
Chesterton, IN
Zanesville, OH
Willoughby South, OH
Buckeye Valley, OH
Akron Springfield, OH
Rossford, OH
Elmwood, OH
Eastwood, OH

duckunder53--Thanks for your reports. Can you continue to provide information as the camp continues?
I believe that one more strong recruiting class will put us in a position to sustain our drive towards becoming a top program.

Salsa, don't you think it's a wee bit too early to be drinking already?

Camp finished up on Wednesday and I did not make it out due to weight room duties. I know on Tuesday that the Fremont Ross QB was out there talking to the coaches. He did not take part in the camp and they did not work him out, but he was there in street clothes. There was also a very large lineman type fella walking around with the coaches at camp. He also was not a camper, but came for a visit.

BGSU Falconz--It ain't me doin' the drinking.
I suspect it must be either:
1-my computer. I know what you're thinking but I've suspected it before, or
2-Grant

The camp was very well run in my opion. Like Duckunder said there wasn't as many big schools and fire power as last year.
Also duckunder I don't know what Ronnie you were looking at. He has amazing strength and speed. But I think he is looking at Stanford.

I know he's a smart kid. His coach was my old HS coach. He didn't talk about him much to me. I just said I think he may lack a little upper body strength because his arms didn't look too thick. But boy were his legs huge. I saw him on Monday, but on Tuesday I don't believe he was there. He and the Perrysburg QB (Ore Tatinukin or something like that, lol) basically took the Buckeye Valley team to like a 4-1 record before Ore got hurt. Those two played for BV, they must not have had enough players.

How many campers did BGSU have this year? BSU had about 800 or so. I heard that there was more talent there than in previous years.
Do many of the BGSU campers end up playing for BG?
Just curious

I think it is odd how BG does their camp. I mean, they have something like a senior camp where the kids that seem to be college material attend. There don't seem to be that many DI prospects walking around at the BG camp. Last year there seemed to be more, but that will happen when you have over 600. This year there were only 400+. I couldn't tell you how many BG campers end up going to BG. Maybe someone a little closer to the program can tell me how this exactly works. I know about the senior thing because our QB went there to get tested and such. A one day camp where the kids interested in attending BG go to get looked at.

Out of those 800, all you need is a quarterback, a running back, a couple wide receivers, some defensive linemen, a couple linebackers and some cover corners to keep the score within a 35 point margin next year!
