Those rankings are a load a crap. Why...for the simple reason that UK is going to be lucky to win one to two games this year. And they for sure do not deserve to be ranked above a team that beat them last season, Ohio. I give UK a sporting chance to beat D1-AA Idaho State, but other than that they will be getting dismantled all season. UK should be down there somewhere below 110. Trust me this team is going to be bad with all of the defections and season-ending injuries that have occurred this spring. CFN just looks at the MAC and Sun-Belt and say yup they stink, without really evaluating the bottom tier in the BCS conferences. Pisses me off. Any team in the MAC could beat the SEC's UK this year.

While I don't tend to agree with these type of polls, it does help point out the biggest problem the MAC faces in gaining nationwide respect for the conference. We have too many "bottom feeders" who cannot compete with the non-conference teams they tend to over schedule every year. What is the point in Ball State opening the season with road games against Iowa, Auburn and Boston College, (with a home game against BG in between)?Sure they get 3 good pay days but at what cost?
Chances are they will lose all 3 games by an embarrasing margin and get half their players injured for the MAC portion of their schedule. While I love seeing a MAC team pull the big upset, it distesses me when this many MAC schools are listed on the bottom 20 teams going into 2005. It diminshes the achievments of the good MAC teams, including BG, when there are this many poor teams in the conference. We can only hope they do what is necessary to improve the product they put on the field. It wasn't that long ago that BG was a struggling team and not it is a consistent Top 25 caliber program.

While I agree with most of your post, about not liking the MAC getting the reputation of its worst teams, if they take a few lumps to get a good payday, and put that back into the program to increase scholarships, facilities and recruiting budgets, I'm all for it.

Don't forget, 2000 wasn't that long ago.

I agree with both of you. There are definitely some BCS teams that belong in that group. I don't even know if there was one. At the same time seeing all of those MAC teams in there shows how much respect the bottom of our conference has.

Like the Big East did to Temple? They seemed to have no problem letting a team go that obviously wasn't helping their cause. I know that option seems a little touch with some of us but it has to be something to think about cuz right now none of those teams like Ball St. or Central Michigan and Ohio is going to be radically better this year or anytime soon for that matter.
