I still find it rather sad that our coach has to make a plea like this to get people to come to the game.Tricky_Falcon wrote:"I think it's big-time. We're a big-time program here and we need big-time things. We need a nice video board like everyone else in Division I has, so lets get that thing cranked up. I'd like to see 30,000 here...our players deserve fan support. We've got a good product and if you like college football, it'll be a great night. The first home game of the season, under the lights, come on out."
This quote sums up almost everything we've been talking about on this board for a few years now.
Actually, Bowling Green's population, 29,636, includes BGSU students. Our stadium holds what? liek 30,000ish people. Our school has 20,200 students, and the city has 29,636 residents, for a total of 49,836.
Not saying that.BGSUfanatUT wrote:that cant be can it? you telling me that we have less than 10,000 people that live in BG?
Remember that we have students that commute daily from Findlay, Fostoria, Tiffin, Fremont, Toledo, Sylvania, Walbridge, Northwood, Elmore, and other small towns in Northwest Ohio. Not every student at main campus lives on-campus or in the numbered streets.BGSUfanatUT wrote:that cant be can it? you telling me that we have less than 10,000 people that live in BG? I dunno if I buy that......
It's not that its less than 10,000 total, I don't believe.BGSUfanatUT wrote:that cant be can it? you telling me that we have less than 10,000 people that live in BG? I dunno if I buy that.....
...after furthur thought i guess I can, Toledo is 300,000 and 9 BG's really doesnt equall toledo (in population only, he have them crushed in class)
....either way, that just makes my point even more valid.
It includes students.UK Peregrine Fan wrote:These numbers surprised me a little. I was always told that the BGSU population was half of the town and the locals made up the other half. The 29,636 is accurate census data from 2000 on the total BGSU population. It's not clear whether this includes students or not.
That's not a population figure. It's an enrollment figure (and, likely a FTE figure, which complicates things, but I won't go into it). However, this year's BGSU population is up to 20,975 which would mean the university makes up about 2/3 of the city population is the 29000 figure doesn't change much.
