Any more progress on the bleachers coming down?

I saw the pictures from about two weeks ago when they started taking the bleachers down. Are they completely gone now?

I drove by yesterday and the metal framework is still standing. It's a little dissapointing to me that we can't even able to do demolition. To me it seems that this project is loosing the public steam it had built up. I am interested in what everyone else thinks.

I doubt the timeline for ripping down the bleachers has much bearing on "public steam."

I expect university employees may be doing this as time allows. I'm sure they have a deadline to have ripped down so the earthmovers -- or whatever happens to come next -- can get in there.

Perhaps they don't want to "demolish" the bleachers because they may serve a purpose after the Doyt like the South stands.

They were donated to a local high school to use. . .

If that is the case then that would be a wonderful PR item to get out. I guess a few weeks of no progress may allow people to put the project in the back of their minds. Aggressive PR keeps the project in the fore front and may help the money continue to roll in.

I believe Holgate High School purchased the bleachers (or got them donated to them). I think it is their job to get them tore down. I was told they will be taking them a section at a time on a flat bed.

When you drove by, did you notice the sign out front that shows they are only half way there with the money they need raised? It's hard to get a project going when all the funds aren't there yet. Maybe they are and the sign lies, but still, get some patience. If you can build the SEBO center in a few weeks, I'm sure they would be more than welcome to have you do it :D

Do you want people to spend time updating a board or raising funds?

I walked through the stadium the other day and I couldn't believe just how bad the facilities were. Namely the visitors locker room. Could it be any worse? I can't imagine trying to fit an entire high school football team in there, let alone a college football team. I was told that the visitors locker rooms wouldn't be changed though. Talk about home field advantage!!

Is anyone else getting worried about this project not getting off the ground and it being a pipe dream? It just doesn't seem like their pushing the issue a whole lot in terms of fundraising. I wanna see this thing get built as much as the next guy but only being halfway home in the end is not a good place to be. This starting date might be in jeopardy.

What plublicity are you looking for? They dont go to 10,000 individuals to write checks for this thing, rather they find 100 donors who end up putting together 75% of the funding, the other 25% comes in gifts from individuals who receive mailed solicitations... you guys need to relax... Im sure everything is on schedule... and I'll check with my best inside source ever... my barber next time Im back in BG!

I drove by with my son tonight and noticed the funds raised sign as well. Looked like we are at 4.5 mil and the goal is 7.5 mil. That seems like a long, long way to go yet. :(

Also, anybody notice that the University has fund raiser signs up about the B!G Campaign or whatever it is called? I can't remember the status in that one but I think it was like 40 mil raised with a goal of 100 mil. I saw a sign at the official campus entrance across from Barnies and then one down at the corner of Wooster and Manville, catty-corner to the Grinder joint and SBX.

Three million short, that doesn't sound to bad. That's what, a small parking garage price tag away. I'll see what I can scrap up around the house to help out.

That was actually $76 million out of $100 million at the halfway point of the campaign.

The money is all on scedule for the Bob. And don't worry about the lack of progress. Groundbreaking has been set for July for a long, long time.
