i was trying to play some euchre on POGO, when this guy asked me who Jacobs was in my s/n. So i told him and we ended up talking/ arguing about football for about 2hrs, the kid did know a lot about football, but he was totally stuck up and thinking that the MAC should never get tie-in bowls and that the big10 is so much better.... we better kill Wisc and i hope Wisc beats Iowa cause this kid was a douche, he said MAC recruits are only the rejects that the big10 doesnt want, and i pointed out how good some of the "rejects" are, when i picked on how weak his Offense was like most other big10 teams he said Iowa would put 50 on BG, so i said we'd still win, and he said and Iowa would win by 20.... he also thinks that Drew Tate is better than Omar, simply b/c he has never heard of Omar... this might seem like a random post, but i just get really upset when people dont know the truth about us and other MAC teams and i just wish you guys were there to have him hearing the same things i was saying by a lot of people.... and as i side note he said this and i quote "dude... do you not know anything about football? i'm in the band at Iowa so i go to all the games, plus i tape all the games that are on TV, Marshall and UCF have been added to the MAC this year!!! i'll bet you anything dude!!! you are going to feel stupid later when you read about the conf shake-up thats coming this year!!!" all i have to say to that is WOW, and his e-mail is
[email protected], if you e-mail him please keep it clean b/c he didnt threaten me or anything and he seems like a nice kid (just dumb when it comes to MAC football), i just really want him to not be so ignorant about the MAC in general and especially BG Football, thanks!

Remind him of HOW close his precious Iowa came to losing in Yager Stadium, to a Mid-American Conference team. Plus he's Iowa stubborn(Music Man reference), and yea, Iowa. That's all that needs to be said...Iowa. B-G-S-U!( or in my case.... M-I-A-MI!)

he went off on how they beat Miami and Miami went on to be 13-1 including beat us twice... he bragged and bragged about picking off Big Ben 4 times, but then i found out "black and gold stay together" or whatever he said and that hes a Steelers fan...

Well, remind him, Big Ben STILL wears his Red and White, and BG could very well pick off his Hawkeyes. And HE had NOTHING to do with that loss. Iowa is tough, but everyone falls, and I hope that they fall to Miami, or BG!

I was at that Iowa-Miami game when the hawks picked him off really easily. Seeing as how I went to school and lived in Iowa and consider myself an Iowa fan, I will somewhat "defend" his statements.
Iowa has DEMOLISHED the M.A.C. teams it has played including handling Miami and Big Ben 3 times, granted their other M.A.C. encounters in recent years include Akron, Kent State, and Western Michigan. His thinking would be "hmmm we played the best M.A.C. team and one of the best qbs around and destroyed them" In Miami's defense, their play calling was awful that game.
I guess what I am saying is don't hate on Iowa- they have the best coach in college football, some good players- including a talented qb who earned Big Ten player of the year honors last year- his first year starting (sound familiar?), and the gameday experience in Iowa City is one of, if not THE best I have experienced.
Ok, thats all for now.

I was referring to the Game in Oxford, when Miami nearly won. Oh and 21-3? that's quite some demolishing there....

I don't hate Iowa, infact the fans are pretty nice for B11 fans... and they eat corn, and I like corn so I can't hate.

This really has nothing to do with Iowa, but I was talking to some of the kids I coach and they didn't think that BG could really be anyones favorite college. Especially since we live right here. I said that that should be even more of a reason to like BG. The kid asked me what my favorite college football team was (he likes Texas), and before I could answer he said don't tell me you like Ohio State. I said, nope, my favorite team is BG. He immediately laughed at me and said no, duh, your favorite team from a big conference. No one can like a school from the MAC, you have to have another favorite team. And I said, that is exactly why I don't like any of the other teams that much, because all of their fans don't respect what some of the MAC teams can do. I said that I'd like to see some of those teams come into BG and play the Falcons at the Doyt, then we'd see how it goes. I told him that BG isn't afraid to play anyone, hence playing OSU and Oklahoma and beating Purdue. His mom even works for BG, how can she let the kid think that way? I just hope that BG would market itself better in the immediate area so that the kids can actually grow up loving BG football and not a school like Texas for no good reason. Maybe someone can get some players out to HS practices to give away tickets or talk to the kids about BG football. Inviting them to the games.

excellent point duckunder, that was what i am getting at, i am honestly crazy about college football in general, i watch at least 15 different games a week during the season, i have PIP on my TV and i also tape other games that i want to watch while another game is on. I read a lot about college football and i also talk to a lot of people about football. Most of these people SERIOUSLY think that i have NO IDEA what i am talking about simply b/c my #1 favorite team is BG! Unfortunately that is also why i have to back ND and Purdue more than i want to.... BG needs to go over the top and market the crap of the team and Omar. They need to be as annoying as Geico commericials... seriously spend some money and like you said start with young people in the local area and then work your way out! im tired of getting no respect when deep down i know that i know more about football than them (not to be conceited). They just dont value my opinion b/c i like a MAC team! ughhhh!!!!!! sorry that was girly but i dont want to get kicked out for swearing

Marketing Omar and BG

I'm trying to do my part in marketing Omar and BG. I am on a few different state sites (mainly HS football) and I have started threads about BG on all of them at one time or another. I also have the Omar 4 Heisman avatar and the Omar stats banner (all thanks to DD, THANK YOU!). I think once people see the stats banner, they will be like, "holy ****!" I don't think a lot of people know what kind of stats this man put up last year. He is very deserving of everything he's getting.

What in the world is a kid from Ohio doing rooting for Texas?

Why care what this clown thinks? It doesn't bother me that some know-nothing doesn't respect BG football. In fact, I'd be more worried if this guy liked BG.

It's the people who follow non-BCS conference teams that know the most about college football because we do not only know a lot about the MAC we also know a lot about the Big Ten and the Big East. We are not closeminded, we pat attention to what everyone is doing.

i agree with that kdog, you almost have to be well informed about college football to be willing to support a mid-major team!

Tell him Anthony Turner saw things a tad differently when deciding which program can develop a quarterback better.
