If I recall last year BG ate Marshall at home and I don't think UCF is that good as we all know. As for the website it is stupid and instead of a countdown Marshall and UCF can just leave at this minute!

Also, be sure to look at the page source code for an Easter egg which was pointed out one of the last eight times we had a thread on goodbyeherd.

It's my fault. He had probably never heard of the site until I posted something on it in the free-for-all section last week. I'll take the blame...

Not quite sure what you mean by that. Do you mean that we'll be the next school to vacate the MAC, or we'll be the next school to be one of the worst institutions in the country? I don't ever want to be mentioned in the same breath as those hilljacks.

How long do you honestly think we are going to stay in the MAC? I doubt we will still be here by the time we play OSU in 2010.

Can you say "Pipe Dream"?

I haven't even heard any rumblings of that. I think it's more likely that the MAC will realign and drop some of the weaker programs.

I haven't either, but if the MAC keeps up, we are going to want to switch conferences. If we drop the bottoms feeders, then I retract my previous statement because that would be good for us as well.

I don't understand this line of thinking.

Where would we go?

I do wonder if a couple of MAC schools are getting increasingly unhappy and quietly wondering if they'll have an opportunity to improve their situation if there is another big shake up in a few years.

I wouldn't put us in that category. I imagine we are trying to be nice to all sides and hoping that if there is a shake up, we land on our feet in the best position possible.

But I don't foresee us instigating anything. Thing is, there are so many ways for a big shakeup to go horribly wrong for us.

When I speak of a big shake up, incidentally, I speak of the Big East football schools perhaps breaking away from the basketball schools and deciding to add more schools. The dominoes could fall in a million different ways; I won't get into all the possible ideas.

Bottom line: Many of the scenarios could end up very badly for Bowling Green -- with us stuck at the children's table with a severely watered down MAC.

I occasionally hear a rumor that Miami and Ohio have talked about leaving and trying to form a different conference. I've also heard it said that Miami, Ohio, Toledo and Bowling Green may have some sort of quiet understanding that they will try to stick together if things get really weird in the next few years. (I would hope the latter is true, but who knows?)

I don't know how seriously to take any of these ideas. I hear them from people I respect on the 'net -- but it's still hard to to judge the credibility of any of these things.

I will say this: I don't see the MAC throwing out several bad teams. Won't happen. It would be too ugly.

Instead: What if its true that Miami/Toledo/Bowling Green/Ohio have some sort of quiet understanding?

In this scenario, maybe the four would quietly agree to leave the league and form their own by cherry picking the best of the rest

(If I was going to design a nine-team league, I'd bring along Northern Illinois, Temple, Buffalo, Western Michigan and... let someone else pick the ninth. But that's just me).

That's how the Mountain West did it.

Thing is, it would be damned expensive. By walking away from the MAC, we would leave millions of NCAA tournament dollars on the table.

I'm pretty darned sure Bowling Green will be in the MAC in 2010.

I just hope some of our biggest rivals still are, too.

You're joking, right?

We have a few good seasons and we're ready to conference hop? :ugh:

Where would we go? Replace Indiana in the Big Ten?
