Audible System

A question I was thinking about today -- Now that Omar has a year of reading Defenses under his belt, are we going to scrap the sideline audible system from last year and let Omar truly run the offense? I can really see both sides of the argument. Omar should be able to audible himself, but then again, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Another aspect of this, and I apologize for bringing it up again, but if I were an NFL scout, this would be my biggest concern. I haven't seen Omar read defenses and audible to an alternate play pre-snap. This is a huge part of being an NFL quarterback.
If it were up to me (which it thankfully isn't), I would keep last year's system against wisconsin, but then let Omar do it himself against ball state. If he does well, let him go. if he struggles, let him try again against temple. We have enough pansies on our schedule we should be able to let him audible at some point.
I was just wondering if anybody else had thoughts on this as I haven't seen it discussed much in the offseason.

In short, no, that's not our problem, yes, are are all thankful, and no.
Just joking. Anyway, I think the sideline audible system is part of our scheme, and it wasn't there just because Omar was new. I think you're going to see more and more teams go to it, and its going to be part of college football...just like managers calling pitchers for the catcher (although that is, technically, baseball).
Omar will have to learn to read defenses in the NFL either way, because they are not the same. I think the spread offense does make him slightly less valuable than someone running a more pro style offense. But, the question is can NFL scouts project him into an under-center, pro-style offense and project him making the decisions and reads, and I think they probably will.
Finally, regardless of how we do it, we shouldn't tailor our offense to help anybody get drafted. Our job is to win games, and nothing else. Omar's drafting will take care of itself.

I still think it looks really Jr. Highish. But it works, so its tough to complain.
It will work against Omar come draft day, IMO, but I care more about BG winning games than I do seeing our players drafted.

I do too. I just brought it up because I think it's an interesting part of the conversation, not decision criteria.
