Disrespect from CFN? BG #51

Post by BGSU-Ph.D. »

This seems low. I think Miami is the only MAC team remaining.

You want a team that I'm sure feels disrespected... how about UTEP? They have got to think they're all that, being one of the mid-major media darlings last year, and they get a pre-season rank of #75?! I thought they were a sham anyway, not that good...

I thought the ranking was a bit low, too, but CFN makes it abundantly clear that these are their PRESEASON rankings and not where they predict them to finish...whatever the heck that means.

We're not the only ones who were misranked. If you cheat and look at the higher rankings by fiddling with the address bar, you'll see a lot of head scratchers from top to bottom.

being 51 sucks, but they did make a decent synopsis of our team
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

That may be the worst poll I have ever seen. Still preseason polls mean nothing.

34. Boise State Boise State Preview | Offense | Defense | Depth Chart | Further Analysis
The team went 11-1 in what was supposed to be a rebuilding season, and now it gets almost all the key parts back with improvements on both sides of the ball. Eight starters return on offense and defense with legitimate All-America talents in OT Daryn Colledge, QB Jared Zabransky and P Kyle Stringer to lead the way for the experienced and loaded team. All the young players of last year are now seasoned veterans creating a who's who of potential All-WAC stars.
Relative strength: Quarterback Relative Weakness: Secondary
Star of the team: OT Daryn Colledge, Sr. Key game: Sept. 3 at Georgia

49. Miami University
Consistency will be the key in new head coach Shane Montgomery's first year, along with a little bit of improvement from the big spots, most notably, at quarterback where Josh Betts should make a big step up in production. The receiving corps is loaded thanks to the expected healthy return of Martin Nance, while the offensive line is big enough, and experienced enough, to be mistaken for a Big Ten front five. The linebacking corps will be among the MAC's best, while the line will generate a heavy pass rush. In other words, this is a team ready for a third straight trip to the MAC title game.
Relative strength: Offensive line Relative Weakness: Running back
Star of the team: LB Terna Nande, Sr. Key game: November 15th vs. Bowling Green

50. Wisconsin Wisconsin Preview | Offense | Defense | Depth Chart | Further Analysis
Without any expectations, Barry's boys should be able to sneak up on the rest of the league and come up with a good season. This isn't a Big Ten title team, but it should be solid as the year goes on with enough good players to pull off an upset or two, but enough inexperience and flaws to lose at least one game it shouldn't.
Relative strength: Linebacker Relative Weakness: Secondary
Star of the team: LB Dontez Sanders, Sr. Key game: September 24th vs. Michigan

I can see Boise being ranked ahead of us. But not by 16 spots. Also, Miami U ranked higher than us. And Wisky, we all know that is not correct.

Hey whatever, whatever....

Its where ya finish that matters. I, like many others, believe BG belongs in the Top 25-35...beating Wisky and Boise would put us in the Top 15-20.

Just go out and win the games...everything else will take care of itself.

Hmmm....this new medication has really helped with my orange and brown bias disease.

Were these their Spring preseason rankings? CFN has only listed through number 51 in their summer preseason rankings. Numbers 26 through 50 should be released on Monday.

But with the predictable way that CFN names their files, its not too hard to guess what the URL for unpublished stories is going to be.

Their file name system is almost as poor and predictable as the quality of most of their articles.

No, these are the current (summer) ones. BG was #33 in what CFN called their "pre-preseason rankings." But, we all know how much worse BG has become in the last few months, so the drop is justified.

If you go to the address bar and type in ranking 26-50 it will show up. Otherwise you need to wait until Monday for the link to be active. Top 25 rankings is not out yet however

They don't do 1-25. You have to type in 25-11, then 1-10. They like the drama and suspense, I suppose.
