2007-2008 schedule
Does anyone know who we play in 2007 or 2008? I know we are suppose to play @ Arizona State in 2007 and @ Pittsburgh and @ Virginia Tech in 2008, but who else? I got my info on nationalchanps.net and they did have us playing Michigan instead of Wisconsin this year but did change it.

Keep in mind that these MAC scheduled opponents were announced prior to Temple joining the MAC, so there will likely be some changes to the MAC portion of the schedule I have listed here.
2007 - Need to schedule 3 more games (One game will likely be a Big10 team)
@ Arizona St
vs Ohio
vs Akron
vs Toledo
vs Northern Illinois
@ Miami
@ Kent State
@ Buffalo
@ Eastern Michigan
2008 - Need to schedule 2 more game (Likely a Big10 team)
@ Pittsburgh
@ Virgina Tech
vs Miami
vs Kent State
vs Buffalo
vs Ball State
@ Ohio
@ Akron
@ Western Michigan
@ Toledo
EDIT - I removed the Wyoming series because the series is officially on hold as confirmed through an email I received from the atheltic department.

about Wyoming on our schedule
I contacted nationalchamps.net awhile ago and they told me that Wyoming was removed from the 2007 and 2008 schedule due to a full schedule and that the contract for the BG UWY games were cancelled. Also on EA Sports NCAA Football 2005 in 2005 (the 2nd season of the game in dynasty mode) they originally had BG playing Michigan just like nationalchamps.net had but we all know we aren't playing them for at least 2 years.

Re: about Wyoming on our schedule
Nationalchamps.net's story may very well be true, all I'm saying is the last I heard from http://bgsufalcons.collegesports.com/sp ... 04aaa.html was that the Wyoming series was still on for 2007-2008. I'll have to check on the status of the Wyoming games.jerzyboy247 wrote:I contacted nationalchamps.net awhile ago and they told me that Wyoming was removed from the 2007 and 2008 schedule due to a full schedule and that the contract for the BG UWY games were cancelled.

Thanks, it does appear that Wyoming has a full slate for 2007 that does not include us. In 2008, they still have one open slot, but its unlikely we would do just one game with them anymore. I wonder if the OU games in 2007-2008 replaced our games. Sorry for the mix up if this series is in fact cancelled.Schadenfreude wrote:Wyoming has future schedules listed on their Web site.
We aren't on them.

An email was just sent to me in response to an email I sent earlier this morning to the athletic department concerning future schedules and it said,
"Right now, Wyoming is on hold. Everyone is bouncing around trying to figure out what to do about a 12th game. In addition, we are not interested in playing three non-conference games on the road in a season and that might have something to do with it.
Schedules are truly solid for one year and after that, regardless of what you might see, they are a crapshoot."

It's funny because I was just wondering about our future schedules last night (who our other non-conference opponents will be for 2006). BTW, isn't next season when we go to 12 games again - I thought that started next season? If so, and since we already have Boise State and Wisconsin (at Cleveland) as home games, my guess is an away game or two, or maybe one away game and a home game against a I-AA team. That's just a guess. I also remember reading those articles about the BG/Wyoming series being backed up, but something tells me those games might not happen now. Our future scheduled that was printed for the spring prospectus didn't mention anything about Wyoming in it again and it wasn't listed in last year's media guide either. Hopefully we'll hear something soon about it.

If we are set with games at Pittsburgh, versus Wisconsin in Cleveland and home with Boise State...
... then I'd try to set up the last game as a road game with a less-than-stellar program that will promise us a return trip.
Wyoming fits perfectly -- but it could be Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State, whatever...
That would be my choice.
I think trying to take on another Big Ten opponent (for example) could be too much to handle in 2006, regardless of where the game is played and regardless as to whether or not it is a one-and-done.
I agree that five home games and seven road games every year could get old... but Cleveland is almost a home game, the way I see it.
I wouldn't mind another road game in '06... just not a tough one.

Unless of course, that Big11 team was Indiana, Illinois, Penn State or Northwestern. Then I don't believe we have any issues of biting off more than we can chew.Schadenfreude wrote: I think trying to take on another Big Ten opponent (for example) could be too much to handle in 2006, regardless of where the game is played and regardless as to whether or not it is a one-and-done.
