Who is the one person most responsible for our success?

Just reading the posts over the last few weeks, it's clear to me that BG football has reached a new level. Over the last 4 years or so, there has been a remarkable advance. I have never seen fans so enthusiastic and so confident. And then I asked myself, "Who is the one person most responsible for our success?".

I know that our success has been brought about by several persons, but if I had to pick the one person most responsible, I would say Athletic Director Paul Krebs.

He hired Urban Meyer. He hired Coach Brandon. He has led us in our drive for the new radio network, the video board, and the Sebo Center.

I'm not sure what's on his agenda now, but I do feel sure he'll continue to further our success.

And I'm hoping similar success is coming soon in our men's basketball program. Let's don't forget that AD Krebs also hired Curt Miller.

Thank you Paul Krebs!!

I think our success all comes down to Dino Dawson.

Dino sighting.

Great post Salsa!

You're right - give the credit to Paul Krebs for hiring the right people at the right time.

Before I even read your post, Salsa, I was thinking Paul Krebs. He does a great job hiring the right people at the right time. I think it is his job to keep those coaches motivated and happy where they are as well, and I believe he's doing the best he can with what he has. Not to mention he's had all of that experience getting new facilities built at other colleges that he's using here to get stuff done for the better of all of the programs, not just the football program.

I don't think there is one person most responsible. If you're going to give the lion's share of the credit to Krebs, then you have to in turn credit Ribeau for hiring Krebs. Eventually, you have to work your way up to thanking God for creating the earth....you'll have to go through thanking Myle's for the pizza, so it's worth the trip.

A lot of people have contributed to the success. Krebs, Meyer and Brandon get the headlines, but there's been a lot of other people who have devoted time , effort and resources to put the program back together. I have only a vague notion about who these people are.....I 'm pretty sure Norm Wamer isn't one of them.

All hail Chip for fixing all that was wrong with BG Football!

Well, as long as we're going to spread out the credit here, we can't forget Gary Blackney (strange as that may sound initially). After all, Blackney was responsible for recruiting the likes of Josh Harris and Cole Magner (although he did blow Harris's redshirt). Who knows where this program would be today without these two guys. J5 especially.

I think Krebs is by far the most responsible person, though. No matter what "Confrontational Flipper" may say.

i think krebs is good at convincing people and he is just a great decision maker. no matter what it is he makes the right decisions. i think marketing is still not very well done yet, not Krebs area, but i wonder if he could have any influence on stepping that end up at all

With the new marketing director, I think we need to take a bit of a "wait and see" attitude on that, although with football season 2 months an a tiny bit of change away, I'd think we would have seen SOME kind of result of his efforts.

Don't you have to thank Paul Olscamp for leaving BG... without that happening and him ****ing stuff up for so long... you would'nt have gotten Ribeau, who hired Krebs, who found Meyer, who brought in Brandon, who found Omar, who throws the ball to Sanders, who recruits see, and bring in more athletes for BG fans to root on!

No, no, no. It all started when a group of people from Bowling Green petitioned Columbus for a Normal College. THEN the rest is history. :P

i don't think it has to be necessarily one person. krebs can bring in the right coaches, brandon can bring in good players. but the players are gettin it done on the field (kind of-MACC would be nice).

why try to give credit to one person, its a whole system put together by several people.

While I obviously know where you are going with this and actually agree, Cole was actually recruited by Urban and Brandon since he didn't redshirt. :)
