Picking OU to take out the Redhawks is a gutsy pick. Picking us to take out the Rockettes twice in a row is even more interesting.

One thing that really jumped out at me was the level of talent exhibited on the all MAC team. Athletically, this conference has improved by light years since I was an undergrad in the early 80's.

What the heck does "WIN?" mean for Toledo at Ball State? How do you get a WIN? as opposed to a WIN

Vandelay and I are on the same page in terms of the games Bowling Green may win and lose.

But Ohio over Miami?

That's gutsy. Not sure I see that.

Hope I'm wrong.

Holy cow there is a lot of typos in that preview. Here is my favorite:

"The biggest gift for Bowling Green is that they move back over to the east division this year after a three-year stink in the west division."

:o I thought we played quite well in the west. Oh well, what do I know. :?

I wouldn't see OU over Miami(OH) in the context he has it. If they beat us, and have to win one game over their rival to win the division, they do it. If they lose to us, I would be tempted to take Ohio in that game.

Also, where's the love for Piepkow at the LB spot? I think if there's ANYTHING to point to in our defensive backfield, its #5.

Yeah, I wouldn't bet on Ohio beating Miami either....which is all the more reason our game with Miami is HUGE!!! I wouldn't be surprised to see NIU beat Miami, but that is a cross-divisional game and although it still counts in the MAC standings the same, it would mean if that's the only game Miami lost, they would get a tie-break head to head if BG only lost to Miami.

It's very likely both BG's and Miami's MAC title,MAC Championship game and Bowl Game lives rest on the November 15th match-up. With teams able to become bowl-eligible with six wins this year, the MAC is very likely to only send two teams bowling again - most likely one from the East and one from the West. It's likely to come down to either BG and Miami and Toledo and Northern Illinois. Sure wish we had that third bowl agreement this year.

He was alluding to the fact that Toledo has some type of hex when it plays at Ball State and frequently manages to lose games (or keep them close) when they should be heavily favored to win.

Vandelay is the man.

i think OU could beat Miami, b/c it IS a rivarly game, it IS at OU, and if Miami has already beaten us then all the pressure in the world in on Miami and if OU only has 3 or 4 wins then they have no pressure... for example Michigan and OSU last year, Michigan had everything to lose OSU had nothing to lose and that turned out to be a lopsided upset. Certainly Miami should be favored or "predicted" to win that game, but i dont think that its a big stretch that OU can win that game, especially with a full year under Solich.. they should get better and better!

I know all about Toledo losing in Muncie. What I meant is that Vandelay is making predictions for every game. So how the heck do you put a ? behind one of them. Make it a WIN or LOSE and move on. Don't try to hedge your bet with a ?. And if the Toledo side is a WIN?, then why isn't the Ball State schedule show a "LOSE?" :?:

I think he definitely called the win for Toledo but made the reference/joke for the hard-core MAC fans who know the history. If Toledo doesn't win this year I will offiically propose relocating the BG/UT game to Muncie.

He also has Ohio over Pitt and CMU winning two nonconference games. That would be nice to see after we lost so many OOC games last year.

Would Ball State let us run the sprinklers all night?
