From the Blade:

BOWLING GREEN - A Bowling Green State University football player was arrested early Monday after threatening to shoot a police officer who pulled him over for unauthorized license plates and playing his car stereo too loudly, police said.

Jimmy Lee Carson, Jr., 19, was to be arraigned this morning in Bowling Green Municipal Court on misdemeanor charges of menacing, unauthorized plates, and having a loud amplification system in operation.

According to police reports, Officer Jessica McClure pulled Mr. Carson over about 1:10 a.m. and told him he was under arrest for the license plate violation.

Mr. Carson allegedly told the officer, "I'm going to take care of this. I'm going to shoot you."

I don't no much about Jimmy other than his line:
Jimmy Carson WR 5-10 166 SO/FR Ft. Pierce, Fla./John Carroll

I hate stupid people!

For crying out loud....

We don't need players like this causing trouble.
I don't think we'll see Carson on the field anytime soon.

This is unacceptable.

It's a shame. I really saw a position for him in the receiving corp. He might be an overanimated kid, but he's very fast.

Still, I have a really hard time believing anyone would tell a police officer that they would shoot them.

Yeah, Carson was a good recruit. Supposedly really fast. Not sure where he is in the depth chart this year.

I'd say the cops went easy on him. I'm no lawyer, but it seems like they could have found a felony charge to slap on Carson.

If I'm Brandon, I suspend him for quite a few games.

The take on Carson I've heard is "yes he's fast, but he's a knucklehead"

I've got a different name for this clown and knucklehead is too polite.

If he truly made that comment, I expect Student Affairs will take the appropriate action.

I assume this means he'll end up transferring about 20 miles north?

I don't think it's in Bradon's hands anymore. This is a University matter and if the University suspends him then that means he won't be playing football here regardless.

I don't know his track record. I would say that since we are talking about a misdemeanor, he isn't going to get booted out of school.

The details are pretty bad, but I can see it from his point of view. He got stopped for two violations that could be perceived as Driving While Black*. He was probably pissed off. And he said something he shouldn't have -- something that looks very ugly in print.

Based on what I know: If it were up to me, I wouldn't throw him out of school. I doubt I'd toss him from the team, either.

But I don't know his history as a "knucklehead."

Not too bright...

regardless of the situation, to ever tell a cop that you will shoot them. I really hope this story got blown up and this is not truly what happened. It certainly wouldn't be the first time the press didn't get it quite right.

I know of at least one other incident that could potentially point at him. I think "driving while black" might not necessarily be the case this time...perhaps "driving while your every move is being scrutinized by the cops because you're being investigated for some other knuckle-headed events" might be a little more appropriate description of the event...

....but I see your point. ;-)

What!!!!!!

Dude, I think you'd almost have to be totally stoned or have a brain the size of an ant to tell an officer your going to shoot them. I mean what the heck!! What an IDIOT if this is true. :x

ZZ, can you elaborate more on the other incident possibly linked to Carson, or is it inappropriate to discuss here?

It would not be appropriate at this point. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I have heard his name brought up in a similar light in the recent past.
