Thats a nice building. Has anyone noticed how we here at BGSU seem to do things on a minimum level. We paid as much as Miami for our scoreboard and it is quite a bit smaller. The SEBO center will be 3 floors and cost 7.5 million I believe. NIU is putting up a new building that is only 2 floors and they are spending 9.5 million on it. It just seems that we are getting less with the money we are spending than other schools are. Maybe it is just me, and I don't want to sound unappreciative of what we are getting because it is leaps and bounds above what we had. I guess this is just like my golf game: foreward progress.

Maybe I am confused (any idea on comparisions of useable space in the two buildings) but aren't we getting the better deal with 3 floors for 7.5million compared to only 2 floors for 9.5. Typo? or is their 2 floors more square footage than our 3?

I'm not sure what is bothering you. Is it simply that SEBO costs less? Or, is it that SEBO will have more floors, but still costs less?
SEBO will be three floors, but it won't connect the east and west stands. It looks as if NIU's building will extend past their east and west stands. Plus, NIU's entire building will be two floors. The section of SEBO that will connect to the east stands will be only one floor. Simply put, despite having fewer floors, NIU's building will be (I think) bigger. SEBO will be approximately 33,500. The NIU building looks bigger than that.

My thoughts exactly!(Stop stealing my thunder!

)
I think maybe NIU is spending more on other things in the stadium, either that or they are REALLY tricking out that 2-story building.

It looked to be a larger floor plan than ours. I was drawing a comparison to NIU spending more money per square foot than we are. It seems like we are getting the minimum in our building while NIU is getting everything they can. Like I said, maybe it's just me. So I thought I would get some other opinions on the subject.

I couldn't find any reference to the square footage of NIU's building.

NIU's team will enter the stadium from the middle of their new structure. From where will our guys enter?

Down the center of the band? as they play a rousing rendition of "Forward, Falcons!"

On the video it said they will have 60,000 square feet of space, that nearly doubles what we are putting in. But I'm still very excited about the SEBO. And correct me if I am wrong, but looking at the drawings, won't the SEBO be connected to the East stands? It looks like it will stop short of the West side, but it looks like the East will be connected.

RE: NIU building size
65,000 square feet is the number I heard. I will confirm it.

Yes, it will. Referring back to one of my posts above, I contradicted myself. I meant to write, "SEBO will be three floors, but it won't connect TO BOTH the east and west stands." As I wrote later in that post, "The section of SEBO that will connect to the east stands will be only one floor." I think that is accurate.

found out that it is 60,000 sqare feet...
Also being completed by Homecoming is a new Alumni and Visitors Center on campus thanks to a generous donation by an alum. This same alum gave $20 million to help build a new college of business building that is 2 years old. Nice to have that kind of money.

If NIU is 60,000 - 65,000 square feet and SEBO is 35,000, I wonder why they are paying only $2 million more (assuming, of course, that the budgeted price tags are accurate). Will the inside of the SEBO be that much more impressive? One guess I have that contributes to the small difference in price is that the SEBO has a large amount of windows. That can get very expensive very quickly.
