i think we could get a ton more respect if we were "BCS" affiliated... wouldnt it be nice to see the Big East remove some of their crap teams, and take BG,Miami, UT,and NIU

Yeah, would be nice ,but I think we could acomplish near the same thing if we just got rid of our lowest bottom feeder teams and brouught in some teams with more clout and prestige. Our strenght of schedule always goes down when we start Mac play except for maybe four teams like Miami , NIU, UT and once but not anymore Marshall. This why I'm still sceptical about us going to a Orange Bowl even if we win out completely. The football media no-it-alls could just say you play a crappy schedule outside of a Wisconsin, Boise St., Mami(OH) ,UT.

its true, the bottom of the MAC and the bottom of the Big East and the bottom of CUSA are really bad

I think we'd get more respect if we won the MAC Championship.

Don't be so sure. Look at Marshall. How many did they win, and look how popular they are. Be a BCS school, and/or win the National Championship. That'll get ya alittle respect.
Sad, but true.

I agree with the fact that we actually need to run the table and win a MAC Championship. After that, if it's still this bad, I'd say go independent or start a new league with a couple other MAC schools. Then we can try to get in who we wish.

What crap teams exactly? Can you justify 4 of the 8 schools in the Big East not belonging there to make way for the 4 MAC teams you mentioned?

well getting rid of 2 and adding 4 would make a nice number at 10, the only good teams are UL and Pitt now... then a huge drop off to WVU and Quse... then another huge drop off to UConn, Rut, USF, and Cinny, if you made me replace 4 for 4, id take Miami for Rutgers, BG for UConn, NIU for USF, and Toledo for Cinncy, wouldnt that make a MUCH better conf??

for football....maybe. For any other sport + academics....never. You guys are forgetting that a conference realignment is a mighty and powerful animal. It doesn't happen on a whim after a good run in one sport. These conferences conduct years and years of research and negotiations before a switch is even contemplated. Right now I think our football team will continue to improve and may even warrant a "major" conference right now. But it ain't gonna happen considering all of our other sports. Like many on here have mentioned, our best chance of moving forward is working with other schools to create a stronger, more competitive MAC.
Was Temple and another school in a couple years a step forward over marshall and UCF. I think it will be. UCF contributed nothing except avenues into florida, which we already had. Marshall was good in football but terrible in other sports and horrific in academics and public image. Temple right now is sub-par in football. but I think within 5 years they will be in the same breath as the the top-tier MAC schools.
Let's take a look at those four schools you mentioned in one other sport...basketball. UConn and cincy are perennial powers. Rutgers was in the NIT championship a year or 2 ago. USF I have no idea. I can't differentiate all those old CUSA schools in basketball. They all looked the same. 3/4 of those Big East schools are all better than all 4 MAC schools in basketball. USF is probably right there also.
This chit ain't all about football people. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Fans are so fickel. Just because WVU may be down this ONE year doesn't mean anything for the future. And, believe it or not, BG may have a losing season sometime down the road. Everything goes in cycles. Do you honestly believe WVU, Syracuse, Cincinnati, or Rutgers could ever be less attractive to the Big East than any MAC team? I've said it before: I know the MAC doesn't get enough respect, but too many people on this board give it too much respect. Trying to not sound like Trev Alberts, like it or not we are not a BCS conference and never will be, why can't anyone just be content with that. Yes, we have a FEW players in this league as good as anyone at any school, but the only thing we should be worried about as BG fans is winning a MAC title, not being undefeated in non-conference play or trying to be the next Utah. If we do great, but a 9-3 season with a MAC Championship would in no way be a disappointment. Who cares what the BCS does after that.

Yes...Nobody likes the BCS, but we sure spend a lot time discussing what it would take to be a part of it.
I'd much prefer to see the MAC get stronger. I'd love to see programs like CMU, WMU and BSU return to their past greatness. Then we'll look better as a conference and be more attractive to potential member schools like MTSU and WKU.
