NCAA 06

Got it at Meijer tonight...

My 1st impression

"Deep ball is there all day, all night"

Sharon and Sanders are killers in the game. Watch out.

The release date of NCAA Football is one of my favorite days of every year. I'm just hoping this year's version is a significant improvement over last year's disappointment. I am going to buy it over lunch and play a significant portion of the evening away.

Thanks for the info, Cane! For anybody else that went out late last night and bought it, what were your thoughts?

Just some random thoughts on the game. Our D is a lot better than what I expected, I put Brandon Mack in last night and he laid the wood a couple times on Bruce G, it was awesome. Jelani isn't the greatest, but Teddy P is outstanding. Oh yeah they have Anthony Turner as left handed, but you can change that. Not a whole lot needs to be said about the O, they are just damn good.

No Freddie, but Toledo's mascot is in the game . The stadium is still the same.

No freddie...when I did Wisky vs BG, Corso put on a BG helmet...I think I'm gonna just skip the pregame from now on.

Another thing that bugs me...I did the Race for the heisman feature...I had offers from USC, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, but I had to walk on to Bowling Green? If you do walk on, does it count against your scholoarship amount when you are recruiting in the game? And the worst part about that feature is that he can only play one position, you can't edit his ratings to make him faster, or to make him an athlete so he could play 2 ways, he can only be good at that one position.

I think, from what I've been reading, if you are playing the Race for the Heisman feature you miss out on a LOT of the recruiting parts of dynasty mode...a lot of it gets simulated. I think I will be playing in the standard dynasty mode, and you may want to look into it as well. They added in-season recruiting to the standard dynasty mode this year! That's been my #1 wish list item for about 4 years now.

I'll be buying this game on my way home from work. I've got some beer to bottle, then I'll be playing NCAA :)

the game has some nice additions. the game play is much better. In many ways it is a new game. Defensive backs and receivers react completely different than before and the change is a very positive one. the in-season recruiting isn't very robust but it was a nice realistics touch and gives you something to do in between destroying akron and ohio. I haven't touched heisman mode yet.

The impact players were a great addition in my opinion. Halfway through the season, P.J. overtook Chuck as my third impact player and just began ripping linebackers apart. The matrix-style animations for impact players are also quite sweet. Let me describe my first experience with that feature.

I jacked the difficulty up all the way and played wisconsin. By the time I got used to the new gameplay, I was down 24-13 in the third quarter. In the fourth, Parks blindsided the wisky QB and Teddy P came through on the blitz and picked up the fumble and took it to the house. So time is winding down in the fourth quarter. It's fourth and goal from the 13 and I'm down 24-20. Omar's impact icon begins pulsating pre-snap and the controller starts vibrating. camp Randall is going absolutely crazy. Omar drops back...s**t, it's a blitz. I get blindsided but Omar ducks out of the tackle, I break towards the left sideline to the 5 yard line and see a safety and a corner converging to stop me just short. all of a sudden the game stops, and the camera spins around Omar as he stiffarms the corner coming from his left while leaping over the safety coming from the middle. Omar walks into the endzone and the stadium goes dead silent.

Friggin A this game is pretty sweet.

That sounds pretty friggin sweet right there. I am going hold off on buying it until I see what it is like firsthand. I wasted my money on 05.

05 was definitely a disappointment. From all reviews the gameplay speed has been tweaked up this year, last year's seemed a little sluggish.

I just downloaded the roster w/ the names on it, but I've got the all star game on now.

Definite improvement over last year's game IMO. I had trouble with the default controller setup, so I changed it to the NCAA 05 setting. I'll probably try to get used to it, but for now I'll stick with what I know. I thought the BG helmet thing with Corso was pretty cheesy, but it was hilarious when he put on the Bronco head before the Boise game. It looked even more ridiculous than the BG helmet.

Thus far on AA mode, I beat Wisky 63-17, LOST to Ball State 31-28, and beat Boise 43-40. I must have fumbled and lost it 5 times against Ball State. Overall, I am struggling to pass it, but Omar is unstoppable on the option and outside the pocket. Sharon and Patridge are my two big targets mainly because I almost always roll out left. PJ is pretty good too. My main complaints - I don't like that the players celebrate after every play and the number of times the same lines are said, especially about a guy being "in the zone".

I got the game today along with 2 free pops from Best Buy and almost quit after the first place. Chuck was going deep and Omar throws an interception. I quit the game and just played Toledo for fun instead. Definitely destroyed them with an outstanding offense and improved defense.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't like the Juke in the right analog so I switched the controls back to 2005 style. If they made the right analog more of a freestyle like NBA Live, I think it would be great. Left or right is juke those ways, pull back to spin, or push up to jump...too bad they haven't thought of that yet I guess. I love the Impact players and the Impact Camera mode...Omar stiff arms are great with that!
