Hey gang! Sorry I've been on Hiatus for about 6-7 months now...With the move to DC and work, I've had little to no time to devout to anything else...But now things are starting to get a little more normal, so let's talk football!
I just saw for Paper Lion for the first time this weekend...The whole reason I TIVOed it was to see the Aye Ziggy Zoomba scene...Having that sung and then Alex Karras and the rest of Lions cheer afterwards was VERY COOL! God Bless Mike Weger!
I am so pumped for this years football season! I've seen the Sebo promo video...Very cool. I think we really have the opportunity to step-up this season and make it a memeorable one! It all starts in Wisconsin and it doesn't stop until we are watching our Falcons on New Years Day! ROLL ALONG YOU BG WARRIORS!!!

I hope so to for your sake. As of now, I do not see a watch party for DC listed anywhere on the announcement brouchre that the Alumni Association is in the midst of finalizing. There are lots of watch parties slated (38 or so right now), but perhaps DC will be a late addition to the nationwide watch parties. Perhaps a bit surprising, at least to me it was, but there are more watch parties scheduled for the Boise game then any other game, and the Wisconsin game has the fewest.

You know, I loved the idea of watch parties when we met to get the Philly chapter off the ground, but the reality never made sense.
They had a watch party for a mid-week game in 2003 and 2004. I couldn't imagine watching those games without Noah and I couldn't drag him out that late on a school night.

Yeah...I just emailed the head of our Alumni Assoc. to ask her about potential watch parties. UK, where were you looking for watch parties?
http://www.bgsualumni.com?
Looks like we are having a gathering on August 15th for "Screen on the Green." Screen on the Green are free movies they show on the National Mall every Monday night during July and August, kind of like a picnic drive-in. Hopefully I'll be in town and able to meet some local Falcon Faithful...I, of course, will be spreading the word about AZZ.com!

Nope, that information is not available at
www.bgsualumni.com yet. I'm running Kentucky's BGSU alumni chapter, so I get that kind of stuff sent to my email before most people see the announcements. I just thought I'd let you know that DC didn't look like they had anything scheduled as of press time for the watch party brouchre. That's doesn't mean your area won't be scheduling a watch party or two at a later date.

I've found, at least with the Indy chapter, that they only have a few events actually scheduled through the Alumni Dept. Most of the organizing comes from within, and emails go out to see who would be interested in gathering to watch the game. In your case, CF, you might be better off contacting the local chapter head and asking about or even suggesting a watch party, or even something like "hey, I'm gonna watch BG Tuesday night at B-dubs, pass it around if anyone else wants to show up".
As for you, UK, if you've amassed an email list of local alumni, fire off a few notes as feelers and see what comes back. Assuming you may head to a bar to watch the games anyway, why not pass around where and when you'll be there and have people show up at will? It works great that way, since no one has to "host" an event, everyone just takes care of their own tab, and if you get a good head count or a regular showing, you can probably get some special treatment from management at the bar (private rooms, the good TV, discounts, etc.)

That's basically what I have done already. But the alumni office also wanted to orchestrate a mailing that listed all of the watch parties that chapters plan on having as a way to drum up addditional support. Almost all of the nation-wide watch parties and all of the alumni functions we've had in Kentucky thus far are billed on an individual basis. It works out pretty well this way for everyone.
Watching BG games is one of the main reasons I started the Kentucky chapter. I figured I would be wathcing the games in a bar someplace anyways, so why not invite other BG fans out with me. We will be having three watch parties at B-dubs in Lexington and perhaps one in Louisville.

That's exactly what I did...I emailed the DC Alumni contact person about potential watch parties...Hopefully I hear back from her with an affirmative.

So I've got a "that's basically what I've done" and a "that's exactly what I've done"... Hmmm... basically... exactly.... who's the better person here?
Good luck with the watch parties or at least pulling off an "unofficial" gathering. Unfortunately, I have to work for every game I haven't requested time off to get to.

Considering where the advice came from, I think its pretty easy to ascertain who's the better person here.

Yeah, yeah, I know... Now would you stop reminding everyone of my greatness? I'm getting embarrassed over here!
