Hotel vacancy within walking distance to Camp Randall
Hotel vacancy within walking distance to Camp Randall
I just picked up a travel guide from AAA today for Madison and it had a detailed map of all the hotels in the Madison area. I ended up cancelling a previous hotel reservation I had that was a couple miles away from Camp Randall and booked a new one for the Best Western InnTowner in Madison. The guy at the front desk said Camp Randall Stadium is only three and a half blocks away and a very easy walk. It's a little pricey, I got the AAA rate of $117.00 a night. But I liked the idea of being able to walk to the stadium and around campus without having to worry about where to park and drive, etc. Just wanted to make some of you aware since it does look like there aren't a lot of hotels within walking distance, and this place had vacancies. I also booked the room for two nights (Friday and Saturday) and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with vacancies or not? Just wanted to let you all know.
GO BG!!!
117? that's a sweet deal. We're at the Doubletree about 11 blocks away for $160 friday and saturday, $120 for Sunday night. Might have to reconsider though to save that kind of money (and stay that much closer!)

33,
Joyce and I are staying at the CROWN PLAZA Madison at 4402 E.Washington Ave......does your AAA book show where that hotel is related to Camp Randall...We got it as a part of a "package" deal with airfare etc., looks like a nice place, but not sure how far it is from the stadium. 8)

The CROWN PLAZA is pretty far away, but that's all relative
With shuttles and/or busses from around the Square, CR is pretty accessable, IMO.
(Of course I've lived in NY for 25+ years and think any traffic in Madison is absolutely nothing at all. Madison natives get upset if it takes them 30 minutes to get out of town after the game. That's an eyeblink to me.
For those staying along East Wash or on the Beltline, ask about shuttle service. Also, it's a fairly easy drive to around the Capitol Square from where you can either take a mile walk or a bus to the game.
Just don't forget the Union South band performance before the game. They almost certainly will play Ay Ziggy Zoomba.
Of course, if you plan on getting bombed, a more expense place w/i walking distance certainly has its attractions.

Finally, if you're within 3 blocks of CR, you're pretty far from the center of campus which is on Bascom Hill. CR is on the SW edge of campus.

First off, I'd just like to say that this is my first post! Pretty exciting! I decided to finally make a profile after following this site for the past 5 months. In that time I've become extremely addicted.
Anyway, last night I also reserved a room at the Best Western InnTowner. It's only for Friday night, but it is a great deal! I paid $130 dollars (which will be split 4 ways) to get a double bed room on the top floor of the private Highland Club. I'm sure that this affords my group and I some special accomodations, but the selling point for me was the open bar for Highland Club Guests only on Friday 5-9 pm. This is HUGE!
Definitely willing to split the little extra cost of the room so we can all get hammered before we head out to the bars. I think there are still rooms available, however, I can't be sure. Hopefully, if there are a few other people staying here that might have the same deal so we can pregame Friday night and Saturday before the game.

I see your Swartz is as big as mine!
