And no Sharon or Sanders? Are you kidding me? No offense to Deslauriers and Jennings, but they play for awful teams. They are the only offense their teams have. Sanders and Sharon will both end up with better stats all the while having to fight for catches/yards with Pope, Lane, Lett, Partridge, Alexander, Ruiz, etc.

yea maybe Sharon and Jennings would be fair, but Sanders is deserving as well
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Actually that is pretty doubtful. It did not happen last year so I would not expect it to happen this year for the reasons you mentioned.Warthog wrote:And no Sharon or Sanders? ... Sanders and Sharon will both end up with better stats:roll:
Jennings and Oscar DeLaRenta are the only offensive weapons those teams have and will put up huge numbers again. DeLaHoya was 7th in yardage for the whole NCAA last year and was phenomenal against BG last year catching everything in sight...I can't argue with his selection at all.

I know a lot of people, including some here, dismiss Miami as not being as good as BG this year. I'll stand by my statement that they have a very good team with an excellent defense and and offense that could be very good if Betts steps up at all. As for the Betts bashers, I don't think he's as bad as they make him out to be.BGSU33 wrote:And look at all those Miami players on defense.
Are you guys saying you would rather have DeSladfasjdiue or Jennings over Sharon or Sanders? I wouldn't.
TD's: Sharon 15, DeSldfaop'o 13, Jennings 11, Sanders 8
Yards per Catch: Sanders 17.9
, Sharon 16.2, Desllsajdaf 14.9, Jennings 14.8 Of players with 50 or more catches last year, Sanders ranked third and Sharon ranked 11 in all of Div I-A.
Big plays and TDs are how I judge a WR.

HELL NO!Warthog wrote:Are you guys saying you would rather have DeSladfasjdiue or Jennings over Sharon or Sanders? I wouldn't.
I don't even think they're as good as Sharon or Sanders. But they WILL have better numbers due to the fact they're the only decent players on those pathetic teams. Maybe not TDs, but they will probably have more catches & yards. Hence they'll get more recognition and the all conference selections.
The way we run our offense with balance causes our WRs to miss out on the pub that these other guys get, but its good for the team. Last year we had 3 of the best WRs in the MAC, but didn't get a single all conference selection, because we had 3 of them instead of 1. I expect that trend to continue because Partridge, Pope, and probably Alexander will take some catches from Sanders & Sharon.
I think a lot of these guys simply ignore the statistics. Sharon scores 15 TD's and can't even crack the first team on almost every pre-season All-MAC list out there? DeSlauries and Jennings teams' COMBINED won four fewer win games than BG last year.TD's: Sharon 15, DeSldfaop'o 13, Jennings 11, Sanders 8

No doubt 87, and my point was to acknowledge how many Miami guys are on the defensive list and not that it was too many. In my eyes, Miami, not BG, is the team to beat. They are defending East champs and have owned BG over the years. Until we top them, we are the hunters, not the hunted.1987alum wrote:I know a lot of people, including some here, dismiss Miami as not being as good as BG this year. GO BG!!!
That's part of my point too. All-Americans or All league selections usually come from successful teams or guys that have absolutley incredible stats for bad teams. My point is that Desalklsoeracxd and Jennings, while putting up good numbers, they are notJoeFalcon wrote:I think a lot of these guys simply ignore the statistics.
