I have heard Falcon Football with Gregg Brandon will not be returning to the airwaves this season.
I thought the show has become better and better and the FSN Ohio exposure was great.
Anyone have a confirmation on this?

My friend who helped work on that show as an internship, told me earlier this summer, that she would not be doing the show this year. Not sure if this means that it is for sure been axed, but my guess is it has.

Maybe it is not going to be picked up by FSN because ESPN will be doing a weekly show on Brandon.

That would SUCK royally!! I agree, DD, it has been getting better each year. I love those coaches shows on FSN. I really hope this is just a rumor.

Maybe coach figured the show would be a distraction. This year is going to be big year for Falcon football and he wants every second possible to focus on the game ahead. I doubt taking 20 min. a week would be that big of a deal though considering how many potential recruits could be watching the show.

Typically radio and TV shows like these are part of the coaches overall compensation package. I would be suprised if there is not a coaches show. Heck, Akron gets one?!!?

My understanding is that the show became too costly/didn't bring in enough ad revenue to make it feasable. The Univeristy was picking up the tab on production and probably also paying for the FSN airtime.
We'll see , though as I have only heard speculation at this point.

The Sentinel has confirmation of this tonight. Both coach's shows are off. DD is right. We were producing the show and putting it on the air, so there were costs and it isn't cheap. Now, as I understood it, spots in the show were part of the overall package--program, radio, scoreboard, etc. So they must have figured there wasn't a return on that investment.
Its too bad, though I thought it was better on Sunday.

Man, that bites. I'm really gonna miss watching those shows but it is understandable with all the Production costs.

That does suck. I did the 'Falcon Focus' segement the first year of Falcon Football with Urban Meyer and the experience was amazing. In fact, the most impressive line on my resume when I got my current job was "Feature Reporter - Fox Sports Ohio".
I can see the production costs being a reason for this. They need a full studio and booth team on tape days as well as the 'Focus' reporter and photographer. My checks were issued by the University, and not Fox, so I'm sure they were paying everyone else as well. Most people working on the show were already employed at PBS though, so I'm not too sure how much extra they had to pay people.

Yeah, but PBS was probably billing the athletic department for the time.

I hope this doesn't affect Brandon's decision when it comes to staying or going. Also, one way we can make sure we get the show back is to show up at the games and produce more revenue.
