i love Congrove and the way they make their picks, they have officially made their predictions for opening week and end of the season, has BG going 10-1 losing to Boise, Miami going 9-2... and well you can look at the rest..

My favorite part of those rankings:

112. Central Florida, 1 - 10
113. Marshall, 1 - 10

What about this one:

#39 Kent State 8-3

They have the flashes beating NIU at home!?!? They are projected to lose to Michigan State, Miami and BG.

It doesn't take a long study of the numbers to see that the computer is forecasting a very down year for the conference. Only five of the thirteen schools are expected to post winning records. The top five are forecasted to go 42-13 while the bottom eight go 20-70. The cumulative OOC mark is a miserable 13-30.

I will give anyone 100:1 odds that Kent State won't go 8-3 or Marshall 1-10. I will give you 200:1 odds if you take both!! :D

If you're laying 100:1 on each of them it'd be a real sucker bet to bet the combo for 200:1. You'd be money ahead to lay down money on each separate 100:1 bet. In order to make equivalent odds you'd want to offer 10,000:1 odds on the combination. Perhaps you should also lay it at 11,000:1 just to entice some betting on the combination.

Sorry...gambler :)

It's a well-accepted fact that anything to do with education and technology (e.g. computers), is naturally adverse to Marshall and UCF. Hence, the computer ratings make perfect sense.

Of note to PGY and myself, Kentucky is projected to have a 1-10 record. That sounds about right to me. UK's win is an "automatic" win according to the computer poll since UK plays D1-AA Idaho State. However, I am hesitant to say that the Idaho game is an automatic win.

While I think Kent State will be a decent team, there is no way that team is gonna go 8-3, not with their sked. I see Kent at 5-6 or 6-5.

So, Hammb - you are the one I need to talk to to figure out how to place a bet on BGSU on Sept 3?

I've actually never placed a sports bet, but I'm keeping my eye open for the opening line on that game. If we are double digit dogs I will be pulling some of my poker bankroll for a couple hundy bet on the Falcons. In the past we've been money in the bank as serious dogs on the road. We haven't won as many of those games as I'd like, and I think we've shot ourselves in the foot with some of our gameplans, but the fact remains we still beat the spread on the road against NW, Mizzou, Kansas (I think), Purdue, OSU, and Oklahoma in recent years.

Why should I let that easy money go to the rest of the gambling world when I could be cashing in? I'll probably look up a good online sports book if we come out as double digit dogs. If the line is worse than Wisky -10 I doubt that I'll play though.

If we're double digit dogs against Wisky, I want some of the drugs that linesmaker is using.

We were double digit dogs against Purdue. We were a 17 point dog against OSU after beating Purdue. We were 25 point dogs last year against OU.

It wouldn't shock me in the least if we turn up as 11 point dogs. Remember they'll get a FG for home field advantage, a TD for being a Big 10 team wouldn't surprise me at all.

I can't wait -- I'm thinking about laying at least 2 hunny on us if we are double-digit dogs. I have trouble envisioning a scenario where we get blown out. Their offense just isn't strong enough to put up more than 30 on us. No way we score less than 3 TD's. I'm not saying it's impossible for us to get smashed, just that I'm confident enough to put my money where my mouth is.
