Priorities for Spending Money

The demise of the TV Coaches Show because it wasn't paying off in increasing ticket sales leads me to ask what should our priorities be for spending money.

Here's my initial list (still thinking about it) of the top 5 priorities.

1-Recruiting
2-Facilities
3-Coaches Salaries
4-Scheduling (increasing payouts for out of conference opponents, etc.)
5-Radio Network (I view this as our primary marketing tool).

Another area I'm thinking about although I'm not sure it costs money is improving our state and regional media coverage (TV sportscasts, radio sportscasts, newspaper coverage, etc.).

By the way, does anyone know how much the size of our Pressbox limits the number of media representatives we can have at the games?

I believe that improving facilities right now should be our main priority. With better facilities comes better recruits. And also, if a school is willing to invest in a program (facilities), usually the coach will tend to stick around. I do agree that we need to compensate our coaches to a level that they're equal to the top two or three in the conference.

Facilities and coaches' salaries seem to be the most pressing need for $. We've been getting solid recruits for the last few years and our facilities aren't the best...at least not yet.

Freak is right. Many of the outstanding recruits we have gotten over the last few years are here because of the Coaches. I know that was what got Corey to come to BGSU. If we can keep this set of coaches and their method of recruiting and then start putting some better facilities out there. BGSU will be a power house for many many years to come.

And that will feed upon itself. Keep the coaches, build better facilities, then the media exposure and attendance will build itself.

What was it a famous football icon once said "Just win Baby!"

It all starts in 30 days.

1. Facilities
1.5. Attendance
2. Salaries
3. Recruiting

Facility upgrades and attendance can be an added bonus to coaches which may temper the need for more money just to keep those coaches. Attendance will get better with better facilites. Good facilities, attendance, and good coaches can get the quality recruits.

These are all connected. We NEED facility upgrades.
