from a six page "conversation" between pat forde and ivan maisel. you have to go to the last page to see any mac mention, but they seem to be high on our chances at wisconsin

Ivan: I automatically think of Bowling Green and Toledo as the top two, but Miami screws that up. What major-conference team gets beat by a MAC team this year?
Pat: Miami is at Ohio State to open the season. Bowling Green is at Wisconsin.
Ivan: There you go. That's probably it.

Black quarterbacks. It might only still be an issue to Rush Limbaugh, but Phil Steele's preview magazine rates African-Americans as five of the nation's top six QBs: Vince Young of Texas; Reggie McNeal of Texas A&M; Chris Leak of Florida; Omar Jacobs of Bowling Green (above); and Brad Smith of Missouri.

The spread offense. Urban Meyer plugged Alex Smith into the spread at Utah and saw him become the No. 1 NFL draft pick. The guy Meyer left in charge two stops ago, Bowling Green's Gregg Brandon, saw his QB, Omar Jacobs, throw for 4,000 yards and 41 TDs last year in the same offense. Defensive coordinators, you are hereby challenged to find the antidote to the spread.

Brad Smith is still in school?
He's like Wasean Tait over there!
On a related note, I was in St. Louis over the weekend and saw a kid with a Brad Smith jersey on. He was only 10 or 11, otherwise I was going to laugh in his face.
Okay, okay.. so the age didn't stop me, it was because he was with his dad. Who was bigger than me.

LOL! Smith originally verballed to Toledo, but followed Pinkel to Missouri and signed there in February of 2001. He redshirted in '01 and started right away as a RFR in 2002.
Of course I am not mad that he followed Pinkel to Missouri because his scholarship opening up was what lead us to offering Bruce Gradkowski.

Under the George O'leary write-up, however, C-USA is called a tougher conference than the MAC. It isn't.
