Wide receiver Cole Magner on his play on offense and special teams:
"I had some great blocking out there on the returns and I just ran my routes and Ty game me some great balls to catch. I'm confident in my abilities and coaches put me out there and they trust me to do the right job. I just go out there and do what I'm supposed to do."

Magner on where he sees himself fitting into the Falcons roster:
"Anywhere I can help the team. If it's special teams and that's my job, that's what I'll do. Or if it's as a backup receiver, that's what I'll do. I'll do anything."

Magner on if playing in the wide-open Bowling Green offense helped him:
"It's helped a lot. A lot of the calls we had at Bowling Green are exactly the same as they are here. Personnel is different, but the calls and terminology is the same."

I think Vick's comments carry more weight than Mora's. I never believe anything NFL coaches say about anything but Vick has been praising Cole since day 1.

Most likely if king Vick wants a receiver, King Vick gets a receiver. Cole's experience playing with a scrambling QB like J5 gives him the upper hand because he is experienced at breaking off routes and scrambling with the QB to get open. Vick's gotta love that. I think we'll definitely see Cole on ST with Atlanta this year and he may be an injury or two away from seeing some WR time as well.

Before his career is over I want to see him throw a touchdown to vick.

Q: How would you rate the effectiveness of the passing game against a tough secondary?
Vick: They have a pretty tough secondary, but we tried some different pass concept this week, some things we didn't do last week. With a different game plan you'll get different results. Roddy White had a good game. I think some of the other guys Cole Magner had a great catch did some good things. We have some things to learn from. That's what we have to come back and do this week watch some film and really critique it and pick out the thins we can do even better next week and try to learn from it.

Vick: Cole looked good. He's been impressive throughout the entire training camp. We're very excited about him. He's a guy who goes out and catches the ball with no gloves on, straight hands, so you have to respect that. He's a playmaker. I've been watching him the last month and a half and critiquing him. Hummm.....the calls are the same and only the personnel is different? The "gimmick offense"/jealousy crowd might be interested to hear this.

We already know many of the pass routes mirror the ones used by former Minnesota Vikings and newly appointed Miami Dolphins OC Scott Linehan.

As far as I'm concerned, they can continue to criticize the offense and watch boring, bland football while BG puts up 44 points per game and breaks the conference scoring record again.

Great news for Cole! With his quickness, size, and hands I see no reason he cannot make that team. Great to hear Vick loving Cole.

I think many of the Atlanta fans want to give White the benefit of the doubt since he played at Ga. Tech. Then again, that might be a strike against him with the UGA fans.

Magner is better than White, period. He is a better receiver and he can return kicks and punts (even if it is only in a backup role).

Speaking of rookies who impressed on Saturday, we've got to talk about Cole Magner. An average of more than 20 yards per punt return and two solid, solid grabs showed fans what we've been telling you about on AF.com since rookie mini camp - all he does, is catch the football. He's nothing flashy, he simply produces.


Now, don't let that wiry exterior fool you. The guy's a very good athlete. Good leaping ability, good toughness, good speed. But what gives him a shot to make this team - yeah, I believe he's got one - is the fact that when the ball's in the air, he goes up, sacrifices his body and nine times out of 10, comes down with it.


You got a taste of that against the Ravens. My guess is, with Roddy a big question mark this weekend against Tennessee, you'll see a lot more of number 15.

He certainly catches your eye because he catches the ball. You stand on the sideline Saturday night listening to Ike Reese, Warrick Dunn and some of those veterans and they love the kid. He's a competitor, he catches everything that's thrown to him, he can jump, and he's athletic. He's Sunshine, he's got that going. Anytime a guy misses reps...It's comparable to a Gabe Nyenhuis. Those 'Ins' go down and all of a sudden a guy like Gabe has a chance to play and has a chance to show you something. I think it's going to be the same thing with Cole. As guys in front of him, as they miss reps, he gets more and he shows things. He's a good player. He does a good job on punt returns. Guys like that - he's like a Jimmy Ferris type guy - they last in the league, there's a niche for them. We've certainly been impressed by him.
