i know it's early to post this, but if you're thinking of making the trip to Boise, you're probably making plans about now, anyway.

SO... here's a brief overview of Bronco Stadium, and more importantly, where to tailgate.

Image

to make sense of this image:

HOTELS

1 - the Grove Hotel, right downtown on Capitol Blvd and Front Street. one of the nicer hotels in the city, fairly new (about 7 or 8 years old), our minor league hockey team arena is attached to it. easy access to downtown's 80+ restaurants, night clubs, dance clubs, etc. also just a short 10-minute walk to the stadium along the river.

2 - The Statehouse Inn on 9th street and Front. decent place to stay, easy access to everything downtown. short 15 minute walk to the stadium.

3 - the Owyhee Plaza hotel on main street. one of Boise's oldest, but very well kept and recently rennovated. only about a 15 minute walk to the stadium, maybe 20 if you're slow like me.

4 - University Inn, just off the left side of this picture, is a small motel on the west end of campus. a short 5 minute walk to the stadium down University through campus. convenient to the stadium, and a short walk across Capitol bridge to decent restaurants and night clubs downtown.

5 - Doubletree Parkcenter hotel (just off the lower right of this picture). decent hotel close to the stadium, but kind of far from the nightlife of downtown.

6 - Marriott Courtyard hotel, only a couple years old, closest hotel to the stadium.

RESTAURANTS

7 - The Ram, right across the river fromt the stadium on the other side of Broadway. the Ram is also a microbrewery, and next to it is the Stonehouse which has pool tables, darts, etc. if you want more info on microbreweries, let me know. there's more than the Ram.

for more information on where to eat or stay, a good site to check is http://www.downtownboise.org

TAILGATING!

8 - this is our tailgate spot (the www.broncocountry.com guys). we're right below the readerboard on Broadway avenue. we'll have an orange Broncocountry flag flying overhead so you can find us, and plenty of food, refreshments and shade. not sure yet when we'll start tailgating since it's a school day, but i'd guess we'll get there around 1:00 to 2:00 at the latest.

10 - if you're low on tailgating supplies or batteries for the radio or whatever, WinCo supermarket is right across the river.

the main tailgating areas are marked with the red [T]'s.

OTHER

9 - just in case, St. Luke's hospital is just off the upper right of this picture.

that's just an overview. if you have specific questions between now and the game, send me a message and i'll do my best to answer it.

hope to see you here! and for those who are coming, have a safe trip! :D

All the dayglow yellow numbering and red T's are hard to see from ground level, though.

Otherwise, it's pretty easy find your way around the campus and downtown. Great restaurants and nightlife in the downtown area, all a short cab ride, walk, etc. away.

Looking forward to meeting some Falcon fans on Sep. 21st. Kinda sucks it's a Wednesday, but the atmosphere should still be great. If anyone on this board is making the trek, be sure to come by broncocountry.com and arrange to meet us for some tailgating!

Good luck to Bowling Green this year. So far we have had some great discussions with your fans. You all seem to know your football and have a healthy respect for the opponents. After dealing with some of the Georgia fans, it's a refreshing break.

If only it weren't for student teaching..... ugh. I'd be in Boise in a second. I have a feeling that they wouldn't like it at the school if I just took off for a week.

if you mean the actual smurf turf itself, it's pretty cool. not quite as blue as you see on television.

i prefer the real thing, but if you're gonna have fake turf, what the heck... make it blue.

BUT... if you mean smrfturf, then trust me, he's not all that. :?

I might be able to get you that ticket

Hotels are useless to me in that pic. We are sleeping in a van...maybe down by the river there  The hospital is a good thing because I'll probably get beat down by the Boise fans if we win. But yeah, I'll definitely hit up the tailgating spot!!!

Grant and Factman, if it influences your decision at all, in my opinion any BG fan who makes this trip will earn my undying respect and earn the moniker: "HARDCORE!!!!" Given the distance involved and the time of the game, I can't see anyone being called anything less for making this trip! I wish it wasn't a 20 hour drive from Tucson, or I'd be there in a heartbeat!

You know

Take a look at Travelocity.com

Earlier this month I booked a roundtrip flight out of Columbus (leave Tuesday, return Thursday)and two nights hotel (team hotel is the Holiday Inn Airport) for $350 per person.

Let's see, as of 9:15 AM this morning, I found the following from Detroit - American West roundtrip and 2 nights at the Shiloh Inn for $467.

From Toledo - $712 (nah, don't do it)

From Columbus - Northwest Airlines and two nights at the Holiday Inn Airport (same hotel as the team) for $455 (could go as cheap as $393 if you stayed at the Shiloh Inn)

And for the Freak - roundtrip on Frontier Airlines (leaving Canton) and two nights hotel for $441

Got my tix on Saturday -
Section 10, Row A, Seats 7 & 8 (I think I bought two tickets for less than one OSWho ticket in '03).

Y'all know you want to see that blue turf up close and personal!

LET'S DO IT!!!!!

You have to see the blue turf in person. It is much brighter and prettier in person than on TV.

For those of you into tickets such as speeding-- Check out the big building just North of the Winco on Bro's map. That is our new Ada County Courthouse.

If the Freaklings weren't in school.....ah, who am I kidding? I can't afford to fly 4 of us out on a weeknight!

Sacrifices must be made for other games (Ball State, Buffalo, MACC and bowl). Thank goodness for ESPN! :D

If you can make it, do it!

Approximately 240 hours til kickoff in Madison.

College Football rules!!
