I took a look at our depth charts on the offensive side and STs and came away with these thoughts.

1. Chris Bullock or Bobby Thomas may each have a chance to be in BGs all time record lists. They will have to beat out just one guy for the starters role as redshirt Freshman and that guy has shown potential but not much else.

2. The drastic changeover amongst the skill position players next year will cost us wins but be exciting to watch.

3. Walk-on kicker Nick goss seems to be a genius. What better situation for a kicker. With both our punter and kicker graduating this year he is all but assured a scholarship and a kicking spot next year. If its the kicker spot he will be an offense that produced the NCAA leader in PATs.

4. The depth on the OL is ridiculous.

5. I would still love to see Jarret Buckosh in a basketball Uniform

Nick Goss doesnt' exactly exctite me as far as his kicking skills go. I hope we find someone better eventually. I can't believe Timchenko is a senior as well. We may have to spend a schollie and get a good one somehere.

In Falconboy's defense our kicking game looked putrid in the scrimmage on the 13th. Didn't make it out to this past Saturday's contest, so I'll have to take the words of those that were there. From what I saw on the 13th I see a LOT of going for it on 4th downs...and even 2 point conversions.

We have major concerns in the kicking game....I hope they are straightened out soon.

Going for it on fourth down... I think Brandon said last spring that was the plan for this year. "All I need is someone who can kick extra points..." or something like that.

To build off what Freak said, too many folks are glossing over the loss of Suisham and the lack of a top-notch replacement. We have several games where a 40-yard field goal could quite easily make or break us - Wisconsin, Boise State, Miami, Toledo. With Suisham (at least in 04), we knew that was a viable option. It doesn't seem to be this year.

I hope Timchenko works out the kinks and steps it up, because it's not safe to assume we won't need some clutch kicks.

To be fair to Timchenko now, he was 1 for 1 on field goal attempts last season, a 40-yarder. Also, this past scrimmage he "booted a 47-yard field goal against the wind on the second series of the one-hour scrimmage." He seems to have more than adequate distance for field goals and kickoffs (assuming he does kickoffs and not Fry) and hopefully he'll be plenty accurate as well. As per the other aspect of the kicking game, punting, nothing has changed there. This is Fry's third year as the starting punter, so this aspect of the kicking game seems pretty solid. I understand a little concern about the kicking game because of the experience factor with Timchenko, but not as much as I've read in this thread. Everyone take a deep breath.

I don't think that quote was a knock on the kicking, I think it was a compliment to the offense. I highly doubt we will be going for it if there is a makeable FG try. If kicking is unsuccessful enough times I could see that happening. We don't have any reason to worry until we actually see some missed FG's.

If you had been to the August 13th scrimmage you would understand why. Timchenko was incredibly inconsistent. He had the leg power to do it, but sometimes it was just brutal. On kickoffs he'd put 2 of 'em down to the goalline or into the endzone, then the next 2 would be shanks rolling out of bounds at the 30.

Same with his FG kicks on the sidelines. One would look great, then another would be something that wouldn't have cleared his OL. When he went into the game he missed an easy FG and missed 2 XPs.

The whole time we were there we thought he was some walkon who had no hope of making the team, because his kicks were so terrible. We were laughing and joking about why he was wasting his time, etc. Then we found out that Timchenko had changed his number and that was him...

For me, anyways, it's not so much worrying about how he'll respond to the pressure, but whether or not he has the ability to gain any consistency period. If a guy cannot consistently kick XPs in practice he's not somebody I want trying to boot a 45 yarder under pressure, but that's just me.
