SW Ohio; why hath thou forsaken us?

Is it just me, or does it seem like SW Ohio in general (and Dayton and Cincinnati specifically) completely ignores anything having to do with BGSU?
In the last 4 years at least, I have not heard one utterance of BG in the newspaper or on TV, yet it seems like every week there's a story on the news having to do with Miami U.
This is understandable, I suppose, given that Miami is in SW Ohio....but I hear more about AKRON than I do BG! Not to mention there is occassionally stories on Ohio U, Kent State, and even Toledo.
But nothing to my knowledge, has ever been mentioned of BGSU in these last 4 years. I find this especially frustrating and disheartening given our newfound glory.
Now obviously, I haven't read every newspaper ever printed in SW Ohio, but I watch the news fairly often, and you would think I would hear something. But no. Anything mentioned about college football is always OSU, UC, or Miami.
I guess it is little wonder why nobody in my neck of the woods even knows where BGSU is.

Actually there was an article on Harris when the Browns picked him up. There was a huge picture of him in action in the Motor City Bowl. I am from the Dayton area and you are right about no love fo BG. It is always Miami and sometimes OU. Which makes no sense to me since BG is actually closer to Dayton. Also sometimes I have caught a small article about the MAC scores and BG is sometimes in those. But overall, I agree and I hate it.

I believe you will hear more BGSU news down there now that BG is in the East with MU.
I would think you didn't hear much about BSU, WMU, UT, CMU, EMU, or NIU.

I hear something every once in a while on UT. But no, I don't hear much about any of the others, but BGSU isn't in another state and more than 2 hours away.

I think the BG coverage in Dayton is average. They are not completely ignored but they are not covered like the local teams either. I have seen a couple BG games on time warner channel 25 over the past two years in Dayton. There is some coverage.

I don't think you're listening hard enough. The DDN gives BG some ink, particularly when there are local athletes playing at BG - The Redds come to mind. And Time-Warner does play the games on delay.
But really - I don't want to see BG getting more ink than Miami - just like I wouldn't want Miami to get more ink than BG in BG/Toledo.
Miami gets a story twice a week - one before a game and the day after. You need to email the DDN like the rest of us MAC and BG fans to get more coverage.
What gets me upset is having to see four stories on any one day about OSU..... what a waste of good paper. But until all of the MAC fans starts to speak up and complain it will not change.

I figured BG wasn't completely ignored in the DDN and local news, but unless I actively sought it out, I wouldn't have really noticed BG getting coverage. However, Miami seems to get a ton (which, like i said, is understandable) but even Akron, which is at least twice as far away seems to get more attention in my opinion.
And if BG really is getting substantial coverage in this area, it doesn't show as literally everyone I have discussed BG with (usually people at two of the places I worked at [one was in Miamisburg and one was in Troy] and distant family members) could not point out BG on a map of Ohio.
In fact, I have no doubt some would be confused as to why they're trying to find the place on an Ohio map at all.

Oh, and Robert Redd went to my high school (Wayne, in Huber Heights)

If you are looking for the kinda of coverage that Miami gets in the DDN, you are barking up the wrong tree. We both are. You will find the BG news with the MAC news. And on Sunday's that will be the three to four sentence game capsule...... which stinks. The last article I saw on BG was the article in July about BG being voted to win the MAC.
Like I said..... email the DDN and demand more MAC coverage. That is all we can do, that and inform those we meet about the merits of MAC football/basketball.
Coordinate with me and I will gladly send a letter to Archdeacon about Omar...... maybe if enough of us write, he do an article.
Other than that...... I would expect you to support other sports related to BG such as the Lefty McFadden Hockey Tournament at the Nutter Center October 8 and 9.
http://www.nuttercenter.com/ It is a pre-season tournament hosted by Miami Univeristy. All proceeds go to charity. BG played in the first tournament. This year's team includes Michigan State, North Dakota, and Wayne State. And the Nutter sells beer during the event.

Well....maybe if we can finally beat Miami this year (which is something we haven't done since 1997 - almost a decade!!!), then we could get some solid publicity.

What do you know, you say something about the Dayton Daily News and Robert Redd, and then they deliver. Granted nothing new and it is sandwiched with this article. Nonetheless it is some BG related press.
College free agent wide receiver Robert Redd, the former Bowling Green State University star from Wayne High School, is also running third team behind Terrell Owens and Carlos Perez. Redd, a 5-10, 200-pounder wearing uniform No. 19, has two catches for 38 yards with a long gain of 27, plus three punt returns for 21 yards. Originally signed by Indianapolis in 2003, Redd joined the Eagles in February and was allocated to the NFL Europe League. He caught 7 passes for 102 yards and one TD in Berlin's World Bowl XIII loss to Amsterdam.

No doubt. We did so well against Miami thru the 90's until '98.
We MUST beat them in Oxford...period. I am tired of losing to them!

Your complaints seem only fair after all those years of great Miami coverage in the Blade.
FWIW, an intermediate target where I've always thought y'all should get more coverage is the Lima News. They cover every fart that's let in Columbus and mostly ignore a top-flight program about an hour up the road.
