The Browns made their first round of cuts today, Lang Campbell included. Josh obviously isn't off the bubble yet, but it takes one "obstacle" out of the equation, at least for a practice squad look.

The thing that worries me is J5 hasn't gotten any pt in the past 2 games. As others here that follow the NFL much more than I do have said, that is not a good sign.

Just keep positive vibes for Josh! Who knows what might happen?

Yeah, and alot of those that follow the NFL much more have had the "I told ya so" signs ready for months. Positive vibes are right. I know it doesn't look good, but until (if?) his name shows up on the waived list, he's got a chance to make it stick.

Freak, actually his not playing is both good & bad. It is very bad on his chances to make the roster, which I'm thinking are almost NIL. However, it is a sign that they are trying to keep him secret to get him to the practice squad. Again, this is a common practice for NFL teams. When they want someone on the practice squad they'll try to limit their visibility so other teams don't know what they've got.

The fact that Campbell got cut in the first round and Harris didn't is definitely a good sign. I'm still holding out hope that they'll realize how awful Doug Johnson is (did you see him Friday...UGH), and keep J5, but its looking doubtful for that. The practice squad is looking like a distinct possibility for him though.

What Harris really needs is to stick on the practice squad and hit NFLE next year. I respect his decision to put his family first this past offseason, but I think even he would admit that doing so was a negative for his football career.

The Browns were the reason he didn't go to NFLE. They wanted him in Cleveland to learn Carthon's offense. At the time, they only had 3 QB's.

One of the reasons I see Harris still having a chance is because Frye sure seems to have emerged as the #2 guy. If not for the PR alone. Did you hear the crowd chanting Char-Lie, Char-Lie Friday night? If Crennel tried to play Johnson over Frye, he would be skewered by the fans.

Didn't Johnson only play one series Friday? They are giving Frye every opportunity to be the #2 QB. If they feel he can handle it, I have no idea why they would keep a guy like Johnson around to be #3. The #3 QB needs to be a young guy that you are trying to develop, not a old, never-was, mediocre veteran.

I remember reading on BerniesInsiders.com a number of times this offseason that the Browns asked Josh Harris to go to Europe, and he declined, saying that he wanted to be hom for the birth of his child. I respect and understand that wish.

Unfortunately, I cannot find a link to that effect now, but it seemed quite plausible at the time.

I agree with you Warthog, but I'm not sure Romeo is ready to make Charlie the #2 guy right away. They really don't want him to have to take any snaps this year, to protect him, knowing how bad this team will be. Personally, I'd rather see him the #2 & keep Harris as #3.

Johnson played 2 series and looked like a deer in headlights Friday night. He took stupid sacks and didn't even try to make a play. Despite the fact that this ain't the MAC, the boy that's 9 months removed from the MAC is outplaying Johnson in every way imaginable.

Potential bad news for Josh. Romeo Crenell is a fan of recently waived Pats QB Rohan Davey. The Browns were looking into trading for Davey during the off-season, and now that he is waived, I wouldn't be suprised in the least if the Browns pick him up. This would mean the end of Doug Johnson(GOOD!!, he makes Doug Pederson look like an ALL-PRO), but maybe Josh could still remain on the practice squad. Being a Browns fan, Davey would be a great pick-up for the squad.
