Sound System PA, Scoreboard
Boy , I really wish they would have had a "dry run" before they went out there and had this game. Many 3 and 4s that were 1 and 59s accordind to the board. . . Also , PA guy, you can get excited, if you want , I mean, hey it is college football. . .
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE TURN DOWN THE VOLUME ON THE WBGU COMMERCIALS AND THAT DAMN SCRRRRRRREACH.
My ear drums will thank you. ..

I have a pretty good set of eyes, but I couldn't read much of anything on those. I did notice, though, that one of the offensive guys had "linebacker" listed next to his name in the starting lineups.Dayons_Den wrote:Oh yeah, and I almost forgot but the text on the player headshots.. . WEAK.
Agreed on the volume as well....I trust that they will fix that before Homecoming.
I think that we need some sort of lighting on the top. When it got dark, the whole scoreboard was lit up, but you could hardly see the orange top.

Didn't he call him Carl Magner at one point???orangeandbrown wrote:The announcer also apparently can't recognize Cole Magner.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I liked the new announcers voice, but we REALLY need someone who does their homework. The name pronunciations and the WRONG calls were atroocious. Did he even have a spotter? I bet there are plenty of people who would volunteer for that job that KNOW the players. Overall, the sound system and annouyncer were an improvement, but we have a way to go.

Why did the new announcer refer to our kick returners as being back" in coverage"? They're returning kicks, not covering them.
On the plus side, my daughter was really into the fire graphic on the new video board.
I could tolerate the falcon screech on the old sound sytem when it was barely audible. Cranked up on the new sytem, it's an instant drill bit into the brain.

I think the score board the video board is pretty big, but it is just way too far back from the field. I know they wanted to leave room for seating expansion, but they could have built around it. I think that would have looked cool anyway having the scoreboard built into the stadium.
One thing I thought was funny was how no one seemed to get the "BG" with the arrow pointed toward the west stands and "SU" toward the east. That would be pretty cool if people caught on to it.
It was cool how they are playing music over the PA now, but I think they need to coordinate with the band better. I missed the vamping of Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba and Forward Falcons as they take the field, but oh well...hopefully they'll find the right balance.
Overall though, I was pleasently suprised by the gameday experience and the relatively massive crowd for a I-AA opponent. Certainly bodes well for the rest of the season as we hopefully continue to rack up the wins.
