So we lost the game today, it sucks, yes, but its not the end of the world. It's a bump in the road to another succesful season for us. 1 game doesn't make or break the season, ESPECIALLY the first game. We can learn from our mistakes. There were also a lot of positives in the game today too, they were just outshadowed by the D and special teams. This is a winning team. This team WILL win the MAC. We still have the rest of the season. Next week is when the truly important games start. These OOC games aren't key. Our goal is to win the MAC, and we need to stay positive about that. Wisconsin was just a bump in the road to Detroit.

Not with this run defense we won't , I promise you that. :ugh: :ugh:

Did anyone see the coaches and players crying after this game? I didn't think so. Everyone around here needs to take off their diapers and admit we got outplayed by a bigger D. Dissapointment is the only word that comes to mind. Not in the team, but in our fans.

Just an objective opinion on BG from a Wisconsin fan...
The BG offense was every bit as good as I hoped it wouldn't be. Our DC is widely considered one of the brightest young coaches in the game, and even when our guys were in position the ball was usually put right on the mark and the D couldn't stop it. I don't think the panic I've read in this forum is anything but frustration from losing the opener... this BG team can win a MAC title.

As for the BG defense and the coordinator that I saw someone ripping, you're probably not as bad off there as you think either. No matter what the scheme is, if the D line and the backers get overpowered by the O line and the backs, there's not much you can do. Somebody mentioned that they won't be able to do this to a Big 10 D this year as an argument to the BG D being horrible. The Wisconsin teams over the past decade or so have consistently done this to Big 10 Ds... that's why they've won, or at least been very close in nearly every game. They ran on Ohio State the entire game last year, with a RB not nearly as good as Calhoun. So again, I don't think having the badgers run all over the D is a sign of the apocolypse... it happens.

All that said, my impression of BG was that the offense is going to win you just about every game you play this year, and I doubt that many teams will present you with a challenge in the running game similar to what you saw today. Bottom line: If the badgers didn't control the line of scrimmage on offense today, it would have been a 20+ point loss at least. Fortunately for badger fans, the O line is a strength as usual and it showed.

This is exactly correct and I see another Badger fan has pretty much said what I was going to say.

When Omar and his receivers were clicking, no one could stop them. A perfect pass will beat perfect defense every time.

Problem is, these are 18-23 year old kids playing and they make mistakes. Lucky for Wisconsin BGSU finally made a few (not many) first game mistakes.

As I saw it, Wisconsin was just a bit quicker and that made the difference.

Glad no officials' decisions mattered. I thought the replay calls were on the money, even though they went against Wisconsin.

I was wowing some of Omar's long passes. It's hard to believe a guy throwing sidearm can wing it so, but so accurately. He's a great college quarterback.

From everything I've seen and read on this site from the "High and Mighty I Told You So's", a few of you need to reread this Wisconsin fan's sentiments and take a step back from the criticisms and venting upon the coaching, D, kicking game, and whatever else you may have had a problem with today. The people who are making the most noise are the same people who said we didn't stand a chance in hell of beating Boise, let alone Wisconsin. be happy you prediction came true. So just chill a little all of you pessimistic prognosticators and move on to the Ball State game. BG can still have a VERY successful season, just like last season when we started 1-2. All is not lost, this is one game and only one game. tThe sky is not falling.

WOW!!! Omar had me on the edge of my seat all day. You guys have an amazing offense. I actually mentioned to one of the fans sitting next to me that this was the first time I had seen us score 56 and was still worried about losing the game.

Hang in there with the D. We had you seriously out weighed and it was hot on the field today......

Is everything the end of the world to you anymore? Everything you say is this one sentence "oh my God, we are devastated" type line about every sport. If every school we played had Calhoun, I'd be worried. Since they don't, I'm going to bed a little upset like the rest of you but we still have many more games to play. I don't give 2 shits if we bust into the BCS this year, lets win the MAC Championship for once!
