How Ironic

The defense stepped up and the offense sputtered.

Next week, will it be both to falter?

I'm sorry but I don't agree with you there. Omar threw for 426 yrds and 5 TDs! 1 pick. BG had 132 total yards rushing, and Ball State had 160 yards rushing. Ball State had 301 total yards passing 4TDs, but threw 2 picks. Yes our offense faultered with 4 turnovers, and missed extra points. But we still couldn't even stop Ball States offense. It's going to be a loooooong season

BSU had 31 minutes of posession.

The d was on the field more than they should have been.

I don't hang this performance on the defense.

Our defense was much better. Ball State used a couple of trick plays to gain big yards and then a couple of blown coverages lead to big plays. Plus the TO's and bad punting put Ball Staet in good field position. I am trying to be positive about the defense's performance.

POSITIVE!?!? BE GONE, DAMN YOU!!! We can't have any of that here!

But you're right, when you break it down, aside from a few big plays (not that Boise State won't be lickin' their chops to exploit a few big plays), the defense seemed much improved. Wisky ground their way down the field, BSU seemed to find a couple holes and some good field position and capitalize that way.

Statistically, Omar was great tonight. In reality, though, I thought it was as bad as I have seen him. He missed alot of passes that are normally right on the money. He threw it behind guys, short-hopped guys, over-threw guys...you get the gist. In his defense, though, he did throw the deep ball well and the 3rd and long, down 7, to Sharon was clutch.

As far as our defense, I thought they played very well other than the couple blown coverages that led to big plays. They have a long way to go to being a good defense that can contain a good offense, but they certainly can't be blamed for tonight's near loss.

On one of Omar's worst nights, he threw 5 TDs, 1 pick, and over 400 yards. I'll take Omar at his worse over Zwick at his best, anytime.

Omar didn't play too well in Muncie back in 2003. Brandon had to pull him so Harris could come back in and put the win away that year.

Maybe Omar doesn't like seeing all that red....that doesn't bode well for the Miami game.
