Ball State win only a few seconds old ...

and it's been a long day, but here's my initial thoughts ...

We turned the ball over four times, something Brandon's teams simply don't do. It's an anamoly. To do that and still win by two scores is not so bad.

The Wisconsin loss probably took a lot of the wind out of our sails and I'm willing to bet the Falcons came out flat. But it's a win and, more importantly, it's a MAC win.

Enough is enough, time for sleepy-by.

I'm wondering also if our guys were also looking past Ball State to Boise, and pretty much just overlooked Ball State.

Wow did you just bring me back down to earth, 87. Thank you. That is a great perspective from which to view this game, I think. It was frustrating as all get out to listen to, but I think you may be right. My reservations about Brandon still stand, but I'll wait a week and a half to see what shakes out.

Sleep well, my friend! :)

There's an old saying amongst stock brokers; "Nobody ever went broke taking a profit"

I'll gladly take this win and leave the complaining about the margin of victory to others.

Exactly.

Though to paraphrase Lou Brown in "Major League"...

"Nice win, Falcons. Don't ever f*ckin' do it again."

Spot on, '87, nobody said a win has to be perfect. I'll take a win over Ball State when it leaves the MAC East looking like it does this morning!

Amen! But give the Cards credit...they came to play and took advantage of our errors. The first 10 min after the game, we were walking out of the stadium and I felt like we had lost.

But it is a conf win....on the road. 1st time since 1996 we've won a MAC rd opener.

I'd rather win than suffer the fate of Miami at home! Wow....

Beat Boise State!!

This is true, we may be able to look back in November and say our ugliest (because it will be :D ) conference game is the one that sewed up the east title for us.

Muncie

It's that damn town of Muncie. There is some sort of jinx there and something in the water. It gets Toledo every time. At least for your sake you still won.

It must be the timezone thing. We do just fine playing in eastern standard time, lol.

Then we're in trouble in Boise, too. Maybe that explains NIU...ah, never mind.

87 good post. I was at the game, and felt largely the same way. I didn't leave feeling like we had lost...I realized maybe we have gotten a little greedy. These are well-coached teams on their field who are ready to play against us. I left feeling like we had survived. When Coach Brandon went to the stands and wiped his brow, I think that summed up how I felt.

Now, are we capable of playing much better? Yes. Will we need to? Yes. Is this team more of a work in progress than maybe we thought? I think so. Am I a little frustrated? Yes.

So, we played poorly and won. Part of the disappontment is because we just assumed we were going to hang 70 on them.

The Miami loss puts pressure on them, because you can afford one bad loss, but not two. But, they're still in the race. But we're in control of our destiny. And Saturday, we were good enough to win. It could be worse.
