wow a bruce for heisman website? you have to be kidding me

you have to love the logo of bruce and the rocket. looks like the ambiguously gay duo

If you look closely at the copyright of that Bruce riding the, ummm, thing it says "Copyright 2005 Robert Smigel"





I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today, Bruce is drawn just like one of the AGD riding their penile space ship thing.

Okay, maybe the graphic's a little weird, but c'mon.... every good team (much as it pains me to say it with regards to that school up north...) promotes their star player for the Heisman. It's not that strange or surprising for them to have a Bruce for Heisman website. *shrugs*

The website looks very nice and I see nothing wrong with promoting Bruce - because the kid is a Good QB. The gents who put that together worked some long hours and the site is a labor of enthusiasm for their chosen team. I tip my hat to them.


With that said, however:

Do we really think Bruce has a good chance of winning the Heisman? NO!

However, the site promotes Bruce and the Toledo Rockets. That is the benefit of doing something like that. Getting the word out. And it may even help recruiting believe it or not. A kid could say, "hey. I could go to Toledo and have my own website one day promoting me for the Heisman."



Now Omar is a great player and he is getting some early Heisman hype, but let's be realistic.......he is not going to win the Heisman. That doesn't mean that you guys shouldn't promote the heck out of him. It will help get him noticed a little more and it will be good recognition and advertising for BG.

For Toledo to put Bruce as a heisman canidate just shows that UT is jealous of Omar and BG. He has absolutly no chance while Omar is getting respect from the people that matter most....the heisman voters. At least they were nice enough to show BG in the background. Remember Omar's stats were ridiculous last year and they appear to be on the same path.

why should a recruit go to UT because they set up a heisman website for them. BG will not only give you a website for the heisman but also a billboard.

I hate to tell you, but UT fans were talking about putting the Bruce site up and did have it up before BG fans put the Omar site up. I am sure a few BG fans that visit the UT boards can verify that for you.

Toledo has at least 3 billboards that I have seen that have Bruce on them in the city of toledo. Bruce also has 5 different commercials that promote him.

Actually, those TV commercials promote the Bruce bobblehead. And well they should since the bobblehead has the stronger throwing arm.

Yeah - I could have sworn that was Gradkowski riding that vibrator.

FWIW ... Fliccgirl and rocketfootball have it. You have a player who puts up great stats, you promote them for the Heisman. Think recruiting. And I can verify that the the UT folks had this in the works and up before the Omar site(s) went online.

As an aside, after studying the graphic both as a BG football fan and a designer, I can only shake my head.
