Miami evens MAC record with win over Kent State

Miami won today's only MAC game 27-10 over Kent State in Kent, Ohio. Miami is now 1-1, Kent is 0-1 in the conference. The RedHawks aren't out of it yet by any stretch. Remember, they started 1-1 in the MAC last year and still won the East. For BG, man I can't wait for our game against Ohio to get back into MAC play. Is is October 8th yet?

I think the west is going to be a mess when and if some of the front-runners get knocked off once by a lower end team. Everybody is going to have some tough times this season.

I dunno. The West is starting to look like a two-horse race. The two best teams in the MAC right now may be Northern Illinois and Toledo.

I hate saying that, but that's the way it looks to me right now.

Schad.....come on. Take a closer look:
Toledo game 1: Western Illinois - Buffalo could beat them. Seriously!
Toledo game 2: WMU - sorry Bronco brethern - not this year!
Toledo game 3: Temple - see game 1!

Northern Illinois game 1: Michigan - even though I love em, Go blue does not have the horses this year and still won handily against the Huskies.
NI game 2: Northwestern - lower to middle of the Big 11 this year. Trying to recall final of the last time we played them.
NI game 3: see Toledo games 1 & 3.

Agree w/you on 99% of your posts, however NOT this one. Falcons are/will be the best throughout 05!!

I agree, NIU is looking better than toledo so far. Toledo will screw things up at some point, they always but always do. The question is against whom do they trip and fall. They seem to think NIU can't beat them, and granted they have yet to do it in nearly a dozen tries. But the rockettes are also the team that actually drops games to Ball State, or EMU, or somebody they shouldn't. Even if its not NIU that beats them, if they drop a single game, and lose to us in BG, they could find themselves at home for the title game and bowl season.

Then again, thats true of most of the conference.

We still have to go to Miami.

The key here, in my mind, is Western Michigan.

Western Michigan beat Southern Illinois last night. The Salukis were the No. 1 I-AA team in the country. It was a good win for the Broncos.

The Broncos also played Virginia pretty tough. The Broncos seem to be improving.

So, for Toledo to dominate WMU the way they did... it was a statement.
Northern Illinois game 1: Michigan - even though I love em, Go blue does not have the horses this year and still won handily against the Huskies.

I don't think Northern Illinois' performance at Michigan should be dismissed. Michigan is a very good team. Look what they did to Eastern Michigan. (And Eastern Michigan has improved. They almost beat Cincinnati, and completely dominated Louisiana-Lafayette. Yet Michigan obliterated em.).

Finally, look at us: Auburn and Iowa both OBLITERATED Ball State. We struggled.

And neither Auburn nor Iowa are Top 10 teams. Iowa was absolutely crushed by Iowa State and Northern Iowa gave the Hawkeyes more of a game than Ball State did. Auburn lost pretty handily to Georgia Tech.

I'm not writing Bowling Green off or anything -- but I think Toledo and Northern Illinois have shown a little bit more so far.

All very valid points. Goes back to the glass being half full vs. the glass being half empty.

Toledo "usually" stumbles in Muncie so the jury is still out in that context and I believe in my heart that neither NIU or TU is/would be capable of hanging 40+ points in Madison. A lot of season to play and hopefully we will be able to put this discussion to rest in the MACC.

I will expect Ball State to give Toledo a VERY good game, after how they played us. They've got talent, and there is no reason that they can't knock of Toledo again, which of course is fine by me

Took the Freaklings to the Kent/Miami game and neither team looked impressive. If Kent had any kind of offense, they would have won this game by 2 TD's. Josh Betts doesn't impress me at all and Miami played an uninspired game.

FWIW, Kent sells beer at their games all over Dix Stadium,...14,000 showed up.

At least we can drink beer there on 11/5! Even if it is Miller Lite.

I'm with Schade. Right now, Toledo & NIU are the two best MAC teams. Again, that's right now. That could change in the next few weeks and I hope it does.

Western has a chance to make some noise, too.

Right now, UT is the best. They are the defending MAC Champs.

I think BG wins the East and UT and NIU slug it out for the West.

We will need to keep improving every week to win it all.
