Defense ain't that bad once it counts. This may not hold up, but they are looking REAL good near and in the red zone. Get real Germain.

Offense needs to pick it up and we just need to abandon trying the point after and go for two.

Kudos to the defense at this point...still not tackling well, but a god job keeping them from the endzone.

Talking about the special teams, right? Or the offense? Or the defense? Or the coaching? We look like a junior high team right now and we're still only down 2 scores. Unbelievable.

You people make me sick. ::puke:: This defense is doing a hell of a job based on what the offense is giving them right now. Hammb, you know what's going on! :D

Great, personal foul now to cap off this first half. What was Briggs thinking? He was already on the ground. I could have stayed outside and gotten ready for the Hurricane coming my way instead of watching this. God I hope the halftime adjustments are there.

Granted the offense and special teams have put them in some bad spots, but there is no doubt that we are a flat out a team that can't play defense.

No. They can't tackle. They can't defend the pass.

Special teams can't block, tackle or kick.

Offense blows.

I hope we are enjoying one of our last moments on national television for awhile.

If I take a deep breath, go to my happy-place, I see things as not as bad as they might seem.

The defense shows traces of being able to do much more than it has. There are real issues, nobody here can gloss over that fact. The real question is how entrenched are the problems, can they be corrected, and how soon can that be done. Offensive mis-cues at Ball State put them in a bad position too many times, and special teams have also left them with a short field to defend. Yet overall they still can't stop anybody even with 90 yards to figure things out.

The offense has shown some flaws this year. It clearly can continue being a powerful force but isn't going to sneak up on anybody anymore. But it can't win games if the defense isn't able to force the other team off the field and at least shave a third of the current points of their average.

The special teams have gone to hell again, and that is a coaching issue. STs were horrible prior to Meyer getting here, he did what he had to in order to improve it, and it became great. When Brandon took control, it slowly went to hell again. The missed PATs, blocked punts, all put the defense into a bad position.

The bottom line though, is that the defense is the core of the problem.

There is a heck of a lot for a coaching staff to fix. I hope they can figure it out.

i gave our defense a "B", offense a "D-" and ST an "F" for the 1st half.

I don't know how anybody can give the defense other than a D- to an F.
