Ohio wins MAC opener, now has 2 weeks to get ready for BG

I’m getting more concerned about our game against Ohio in two weeks by the day. Ohio ran for 339 yards today and scored 35 points and intercepted 6 passes in a MAC-opening win over Kent State to move into an early tie in the standings with BG. Ohio now has two full weeks to prepare for BG, and you know Frank Solich will have this team ready for us. Boise State had less time to prepare of us, a week and a half, and exploited us in about every way imaginable. This OU/BG is going to be critical for us to get a win in. If I remember correctly, the game is also over BG’s fall break, which will cut down on the student turnout. I really hope we can destroy Temple to erase the bad taste in our mouths from the Boise State game and get ready for MAC action the rest of the way out.

I think we'll handle Ohio. We are very tough to beat at home and I don't think Ohio has enough offense. We'll get right against Temple and then start screaming through the MAC methinks.

As far as that goes, I'm worried about Akron, too. Any team that can run the ball is dangerous to us.

Yeah, Akron won today too over a tough NIU team. BG, OU and Akron are all tied at 1-0. The race starts for us October 8th. Up first, hopefully a tune-up against Temple.

I said it before: The Streak will prevail over Solich.

Book it.

Get real...Kent is no BG.

I was at the OU game today. Even with 6 picks and 350 yards rushing, OU still only won by 3. That tells me something. Kent is awful, but they were able to expose OU with intermediate routes the whole second half, even with their backup QB in the game.

The Ohio game wouldn't concern me as much except for two things. #1, our first three games have proven we are in need of major improvement in certain areas, especially defense and special teams before we jump back into MAC play. #2, Ohio has two weeks to prepare for us. If it were the typical one week for both teams, I wouldn't be as concerned. But with us playing Temple next week, then getting ready for Ohio and the Bobcats having two weeks to prepare for us, that's an advantage in their preparation for us and has got me worried. But after seeing us fight for our lives against Ball State, I'm going to be concerned playing against every MAC team no matter what anyone says. I think we should win this game, but that's why we play the games. GO BG!!!

It's amazing that Pittsburgh couldn't even score an offensive touchdown against them.....sickening.

True, but Ohio's defense was flat out awesome against Pitt in that game. Actually, both defenses were great in that game. As I was watching that game I was thinking how it was about the most boring game I had watched in awhile, then it got really exciting in the last couple minutes and overtime.

Well...Northwestern, Va Tech and Kent have all hung over 30 on the Kitties this year. Pitt has been a bit inconsistent. They only managed 6 against Nebraska, but they ran 41 up on that NE Ohio powerhouse Youngstown State.

I think we'll be OK on the 8th....

BG will slap Temple big time and get back to playing Falcon Football.

As much as people want to rag on our D, Kent and Ohio "supposedly" have better D's and they haven't stopped anyone lately.

I can't imagine our guys, with 1 1/2 weeks to sit around and think about the performance the other night, won't be foaming at the mouth to destroy teams. As I said before, sometimes a big ole azz kicking is just what the doctor ordered to get this team focused.

I still think we win the East....

Smoke the Owls!

6 days til a home game....THANK GOD!!

Ohio/BG

I think the Ohio BG game could be a really interesting game. Having the bye week now could not be better for the Bobcats, especially after a must-win against Kent. If Knorr were still the Ohio coach they'd be 0-4 right now and I'd pick BG by 40+, but Solich has the Bobcats believing they can win. And while I know you all hate to hear it, Omar has not exactly been wowing everyone.

I think the Temple matchup will tell a lot. If BG wins 56-21 like they should then that will tell us all a lot about the kind of team the Falcons are this year.

I think you will see many people here who are aware of what Omar has done and not done this year. Of course, he's only falling behind his own high standards. Any other QB in the conference would kill for his performance.
